We do so by analyzing scientific research and clinical evidence, gathering new evidence through data science and citizen science, and recommending to individuals optimal combinations of teas, tinctures, and powders that can be used to achieve each individual's mental health goals. We conduct this research with the goal of allowing people to make informed decisions about their health and to increase access to healthy stress-coping alternatives. These healthy coping mechanisms can reduce reliance on harmful self-medication practices such as alcohol abuse or behavior likely to lead to opioid addiction. Value Proposition: Tinctures, teas and powders from herbal medicine combinations can represent better risk/reward ratios Through citizen science and data science over time we have the aspirational goal to meet and exceed evidence parity with regards to evidence of effectiveness for herbal medicines for stress & anxiety compared with pharmaceuticals. That mission is attractive for people to participate in as its an opportunity for global collaboration to create increasingly usable natural medicine for stress and anxiety. • Become a Mentor & Impact a Woman's Life TODAY!

Women who grew up in foster care rarely have anyone they can turn to for support and guidance. Many navigate the world without the skills, knowledge, or guidance that most of us received growing up at home. The adversities our population has faced vary from being unhoused, incarcerated, and/or survivors of gender-based violence. For some, their adversity has made them stronger. 50/50 Leadership offers a series of financial literacy workshops called Money 101 that provide a basic set of financial skills for managing money. Upon completion of Money 101, we offer our members the opportunity to enroll in a 9-month mentorship relationship to help further their ability to stay on track and to reach their desired goals. You do not need to be a financial expert - while mentees may be looking for accountability in budgeting, if you have had some success managing your own finances over time, we encourage you to apply. We ask that our mentors are at least 30 years old. We will provide training and resources for our mentors. Mentors are expected to complete an activity log after each session with a mentee. The time commitment is no more than 2 hours per month, and one 90-minute training session annually. This is your opportunity to make a very real difference in a woman’s life. This is an opportunity to listen compassionately, offer guidance and cheer them on. You will be an accountability partner to a woman who needs your support. If you are interested and qualify, please email us at volunteers@5050leadership.org and we will send you an application and set up a time to answer your questions and fill you in with all the details.

  • Workshop Facilitator -Financial Literacy

50/50 Leadership was founded in 2004 to promote women’s equal leadership. Women are half the population; our vision is that they be half the leaders. Money 101 is our financial literacy program for women who did not receive basic money management skills growing up. Many of them grew up in foster care, some are unhoused, formerly incarcerated, and/or survivors of gender-based violence. Although this is a very basic course, a solid understanding of personal finance and money management are needed. This includes knowing the difference between banks and credit unions; budgeting and goal setting; how to save; the ins and outs of credit - when to use it, and how to clean it up. We particularly appreciate if you have a story of coming through adversity to success. What is not basic about this course is that these women have lived through much trauma and present their own challenges so a great deal of compassion is needed. If you can adapt on your feet, be 100% non-judgmental, and truly open to wanting to give these women the skills and knowledge for them to build a financial foundation for their lives, this will be a very rich and rewarding opportunity for you. The workshops are on zoom, there is ample training and you are always partnered with another facilitator. We are looking for compassionate and dynamic folks that can impart wisdom and empower these participants! We are a vibrant team of volunteers! Come join us. Please email volunteers@5050leadership.org with your bio and a little about your background and why you are drawn to this opportunity. 50/50 Leadership is a volunteer-led organization. So come join this vibrant group of professionals, make a difference and have some fun.

  • UX Writing Team Member

If you’re fluent in written English and passionate about eradicating education inequality, keep reading! Oppia is looking for someone to join our UX Writing team to help streamline and improve our written words, content strategy, and information architecture across multiple products. Please fill in this form if you'd like to help out! https://forms.gle/Q8NwkNm8BZNUzwet7 . Note that the form includes a small design challenge as part of the application (see the last question). Note: To join the team, you will need to have an Android device. Who We Are The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Even before COVID-19, students around the world were facing difficulties accessing quality education due to conflict, discrimination, lack of teacher training, and more. However, with COVID-19 forcing everyone to stay quarantined in their own homes, students now more than ever need access to free, quality education to ensure that they can continue to learn even if they cannot attend school. Where You Fit In Millions of children are not receiving the education they deserve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. And, unfortunately, even those students who are in school may not receive the effective education they need. On Oppia’s website and Android beta app, our community of volunteers has created a series of mathematics lessons that have proved highly engaging and effective with students, including in a randomized controlled trial. However, we have also identified some areas with the website where new learners get confused, as well as opportunities to improve the user experience on both platforms from an onboarding and navigation perspective. We are in the process of launching an effort to rewrite and streamline the learner and teacher user experiences from a writing-first perspective, in order to make it more cogent and unified. This is particularly important for first-time users, or learners with limited exposure to technology-based education. As a UX Writing volunteer, you would be able to help with this initiative! Why Oppia is an Organization You Want to Work With Oppia has served over 2,000,000 users. Oppia focuses on effectiveness, and conducts rigorous user testing and RCTs to validate the lessons we offer. Learners using Oppia’s lessons have seen gains of 50+% from pre-test to post-test. Oppia's contributors actively help to provide students around the world with basic education. Please see https://medium.com/@ebelubhuhiose/86b97283edf4 and https://medium.com/@ojobusayo99/6e783aaddb74 for examples of our current work. Oppia has a community of hundreds of passionate volunteers from across the globe, so our meetings are held online at flexible times. What Our UX Writing Team contributes (but is not limited to) Write clear and concise content across multiple aspects of the product (including, but not limited to, labels and navigational elements, buttons, tutorials, and notifications). Work with other UX writers to maintain and evolve voice and tone for the content style guide, which aims to help students and teachers feel welcome and supported when using Oppia’s platform and lessons. Work from a global-first perspective, collaborating with the translations and partnerships teams to use language that internationalizes well. You'll also get to work with a product team of designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers from all around the world! There will be opportunities to share your work with them, receive feedback, and contribute to the team through mentoring, onboarding or recruiting. If you'd like to help out, please fill in our form: https://forms.gle/Q8NwkNm8BZNUzwet7 . Thanks!

  • Are you a persuasive storyteller? Help Oppia secure grants to support free education

If you’re interested in grantwriting and storytelling for impact, with the aim of helping underserved children gain access to education, this is the volunteer role for you! Oppia is looking for passionate individuals to join our Grants and Fundraising Team to help secure the financial sustainability of the organization and enable Oppia to continue providing free educational services for underserved learners around the world who are unable to afford them. To get started, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/5hwbq9c6AUYdzFqh7 Who We Are The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. In the wake of COVID-19, millions more children are also seeing interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education - making it even more difficult than before for many students to get the education they need to succeed. The learners we serve are typically from low-income families which cannot afford to pay for education; in some cases, the parents may not even have had the opportunity to attend school. Thus, to maintain and improve the services that we offer to them, it is important to source funding that allows us to cover the cost of offering these services. We generally aim to fund operating expenses through individual donations, but there are several major projects we are undertaking (such as core improvements to the website and Android app based on feedback from learners and volunteers) that will require grant funding in order to succeed. We are currently seeking strong writers who can help with grant and funding applications. This process includes helping to collate impact stories and metrics, describing the organization’s current and proposed activities in a clear and readable way, and compiling the application material for specific grants. We welcome individuals who are willing to learn and grow through this opportunity, and would be happy to guide those without prior experience in grant writing. • Marketing and social media for daily news website focused on helping the world

We are looking for an individual with a mind for marketing to join our team to help make more people become aware of our great nonprofit website. Our organization focuses on news about making the world a better place, particularly news related to topics such as global poverty, philanthropy, climate change, voluntarism and human rights. All volunteering is via the computer -- you can be anywhere in the world. The marketing volunteer usually does a mix of the following: 1) Research potential nonprofits that would be a good match for our website. Nearly all of our news is oriented towards making the world a better place, and that's also the mission of most nonprofits We particularly focus on things like global poverty, human rights, democracy, climate change and fighting modern-day slavery. So people who work at and donate to nonprofits that focus on those topic areas are an ideal audience for our news website. Therefore, we want to find those nonprofits and reach out to them. 2) The second main area is doing the outreach to the nonprofits and asking them if they can do either or both of : a) let their team members know about us. and b) let their supporters know about us in their newsletters or social media pages. In the big picture, if their supporters learn more about these topics, they will be better and more committed long-term supporters. So it's to their benefit if their supporters read our articles. It's a win-win for them and for us. We will primarily contact them via email and their social media accounts. 3) Volunteers also research potential media outlets and blogs to cover our site, send out our press releases, and keep track of coverage of our site that has occurred. The volunteer also helps promote the website by updating our Facebook, Twitter and other social media pages, attracting new followers, and interacting with our existing followers. 4) We are also creating many exciting new websites that you could be involved in marketing. They fall into two broad categories: A) a group of innovative websites to provide other nonprofits (and their supporters) with unique tools they can use to raise money for their causes. This link below gives an overview: click the "See More" buttons at the end of the sections. In the future, each logo will go to a unique website focused on that fundraising tool. About half of the logos are already linked to early drafts of the sites: http://maximumgood.org/ A few examples are: https://volunteerathon.herokuapp.com/ http://giveitup.net/ http://loseathon.org/ This is a sample of how a person's fundraising page will look - the format will be the same at most sites, but each will have a unique logo, activity and color scheme: http://loseathon.org/fundraiser We've ported the entire IRS database of 1 million nonprofits to our website, so all 1 million nonprofits will automatically have pages at all of the fundraising websites. E.g. - this is how a nonprofit profile will look http://loseathon.org/nonprofit/ B) new projects to fight global poverty, slavery and climate change. You can see the logos of many of them at these links. In the future clicking on each logo will go to a unique website: http://fortheearth.org/ There are other climate change websites we're creating and the best ones are not up there yet. http://fortheslaves.org/ One of the anti-slavery websites is a modern-day equivalent of the Underground Railroad. You can see the video we made for it and a draft of the website here - when we launch, it will be at .org - http://virtualrailroad.info No marketing experience is required, but you must be organized, pay attention to detail and be good at communicating. The marketing position is a minimum of seven hours per week for a minimum of five months. We tend to give preference to applicants who can do a sizable number of hours. You will be doing real stuff that directly brings our website to more people and supports our nonprofit's mission to help the world. You will also gain valuable experience that will build your skills and look great on a resume. Some of our volunteers have gone on to work at full-time marketing jobs for companies such as Reply.com and Bonfire Marketing. Two of our volunteers started their own non-profit organization after eight months of volunteering with us. To view our front page, visit - http://dailysource.org/ To read more about us, view the links here - http://dailysource.org/about/site If you apply for a position, you should view your commitment to it the same as if it were a paid position. We treat volunteers like normal staff and rely on them like staff. Our site is 99% volunteer run and we all depend on each other to make it a success. Please do not apply if you are viewing this opportunity as "just a volunteer position" and would treat it as less important than paid positions or other commitments you have. If you are in school, volunteering with us can function as an internship. Interns can usually receive credit with their school for their internships. If you're interested in volunteering, please email us at volunteer@dailysource.org and let us know: * How many hours per week and how many months can you do? We tend to give preference to people who can do more hours. * A description of your past work/volunteer experience and education, or a resume or a link to a LinkedIn profile. You can also apply directly through this website by clicking the button for that, and giving us the same information. Sometimes emails sent through this volunteer website are routed to spam folders, so we recommend you check your spam folder during the coming weeks in case our reply to you ends up there. We look forward to doing great work together to make the world better with you.

  • Make education accessible. Become a Hindi translator!

If you’re fluent in spoken and written Hindi and passionate about eradicating education inequality, keep reading! Oppia is looking for a translator to assist our team with translating our online story-based lessons from English to Hindi . To get started, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/HTCWBRixXo9gJj2o7 Who We Are The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Where You Fit In Millions of children are not receiving the education they deserve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. Students around the world face difficulties accessing quality education due to conflict, discrimination, and lack of teacher training - and, in the wake of COVID-19, millions more children are also seeing interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education, which makes it even more difficult for them to get the education they need to succeed. Our community of volunteers has created a series of novel and engaging story-based mathematics lessons that have proved highly engaging and effective with English-speaking students, including in a randomized controlled trial. We now want to expand the reach of these lessons by translating them into Hindi , in order to make them as accessible as possible to learners who have Hindi as a native language. This language is a particular focus for Oppia because we already have evidence that students who speak it would like to use our lessons, but have difficulty doing so because of the lack of translations. We are therefore seeking fluent or native-level speakers of Hindi to help with translating the lessons. What Our Translation Team Contributes Adding written translations of lessons to other languages. Advising on any barriers that students from different cultures might encounter when understanding and relating to the stories we have written to motivate the lessons. It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

To sign up for this opportunity, please fill out our sign-up form on our website: https://accessbooksbayarea.org/volunteer-opportunity/donate-books/ With the pandemic still raging around the Bay Area, school libraries remain closed, and curbside service is rare in the Bay Area's poorest neighborhoods. Access Books Bay Area is getting books into the hands of the children who need them most, building their literacy skills, getting their attention off of a screen to read a book, through our little library book boxes initiatives, and direct book giveaways at meal distributions. But we need your help! We need more books to stock these efforts. If you have books to give, either from your personal collection, or if you are willing to purchase them, please read on for our book donation specifications. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ADULT BOOKS OR BOOKS MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD. We accept the following types of book donations: Used Books - You can give a new life to the books you don’t need anymore! Please only recent/high quality, elementary school books. Please no workbooks, or books that are worn or have been marked in. No adult books or young adult books. We’d rather have fewer, higher quality books than a larger number that includes low interest/old books. We generally have more need for books for younger readers, grades K-2. Graphic novels are very popular. Bilingual books in Spanish are welcome. Examples of popular titles: Dog Man (and other Dav Pilkey), Elephant & Piggie (and other Mo Willems), Geronimo Stilton, Fly Guy, Dork Diaries, Pete the Cat, Splat the Cat, I Survived, Babymouse, Hilo, Narwhal, Dragonbreath, and more New Books - of course we love receiving new books! You can purchase books in the following ways: Our Books4School wishlist - this is a small family-owned bookseller with a similar mission to ours, where you can purchase very low cost new books. Our Amazon Wishlist: https://tinyurl.com/abbawish (Please note that this wishlist generally shows the hardcover version of book titles, which we prefer for library use. Choose the paperback version - paperbacks are great for book drives, cheaper and the books will go to our little lending libraries!) Another option is to make your own shorter wishlist, of books your child likes, and share that for people to browse/buy from Donors can purchase books locally at Linden Tree or Books Inc. If you are interested in running a book drive in your neighborhood, and collecting even more books for us, please see our other volunteer opportunity to run a book drive here: https://accessbooksbayarea.org/volunteer-opportunity/conduct-a-book-drive-with-your-kids-for-a-lending-library-box/

It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

To sign up for this opportunity, please fill out the sign-up form on our website: https://accessbooksbayarea.org/volunteer-opportunity/conduct-a-book-drive-with-your-kids-for-a-lending-library-box/ Share your love of reading, while giving back to the community. This is a great project for families, including families with young children! Run a book drive for Access Books Bay Area by collecting books and donations from relatives, classmates, neighbors, and community members. By doing so, you will contribute to Access Books Bay Area’s mission to bring engaging, high interest books to children who need them most. Students in the communities we serve do not have good access to new and inviting books, especially as compared to their peers in more affluent communities. During this time of distance learning, Access Books Bay Area has developed ways to bring books to these students in under-served communities. These kids want more books! You can help by conducting a book drive. Staff at Access Books Bay Area will guide you through the process. This is a great project for families. An adult or teen is needed to supervise, but there is lots of opportunity for children to be very active in this project. Volunteers will: Create materials to announce and advertise their book drive to family, friends, neighbors, community members, etc. Share these materials by posting to online or offline communities you are part of. Collect the books and monetary donations over a period of a few weeks (this is your 'Book Drive’). Deliver the books you have collected to one of our locations in the SF Bay Area. Children can be involved at every step of the process, including making a sign, sharing it, gathering the donations, and delivering the books to us. We will provide guidance, including specifics for your communications, descriptions of types of books we are seeking, wishlists for donors who would rather purchase books, etc. Your child can even make their own 'favorite books’ wishlist to share with donors, with the aim of sharing their favorite books with other kids. You can read about a book drive example here: https://www.accessbooksbayarea.org/ayaans-book-drive/ Sign up form: https://accessbooksbayarea.org/volunteer-opportunity/conduct-a-book-drive-with-your-kids-for-a-lending-library-box/

  • Help feed the hungry & reduce food waste in San Jose/Santa Clara County!

    Los Altos, CA 94022
It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

Please sign up at www.peninsulafoodrunners.org or call us at 408-726-2742. Are you looking for a satisfying and flexible volunteer opportunity? Peninsula Food Runners is a volunteer organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and reducing food waste since 2013. Ten years now! We are seeking new volunteers in the San Jose and Santa Clara area. We invite you to join us in feeding the hungry. Peninsula Food Runner volunteers pick up excess perishable and prepared food from participating Donors (restaurants, corporate cafeterias, supermarkets, etc.), and then deliver the food directly to our Recipients (shelters, affordable housing, community food pantries, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc.). Did you know we waste 40% of the food we produce in this country? Starting 2022, the SB 1383 bill requires restaurants, supermarkets, etc. to donate their excess food instead of throwing it out. This is exciting: it means there will be even more surplus food available to donate to those in need! We seek more weekday drivers in Santa Clara County to transport the food to local non-profits which feed the hungry. Peninsula Food Runners works with donors and recipients in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties (from South San Francisco to San Jose to Half Moon Bay). Check out our video on our website explaining what we do: www.peninsulafoodrunners.org Also check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PeninsulaFoodRunners Weekday and weekend food runs (shifts) normally take less than 60-90 minutes. Use our ChowMatch.com website or app to find food runs that fit your schedule. Come join our team of volunteers! Go to www.peninsulafoodrunners.org and register under Volunteer Sign-Up. When you sign up, be sure to save your password! Also, be sure to read the food safety guidelines and take the food safety quiz to complete your registration. For more info, contact Hoai-An (pronounced 'Why-Ann) at ht@peninsulafoodrunners.org or 408-726-2742. Once you sign up, use our ChowMatch.com website and/or phone app to view opportunities that fit your schedule, sign up for food runs, notify us of your vacation time, etc. ChowMatch.com login page - https://www.chowmatch.com/login.php Download ChowMatch app - https://www.chowmatch.com/features/ - (at bottom of page) Check out the wonderful video about our work! https://www.facebook.com/PeninsulaFoodRunners/videos/5692281200783024 We hit the front page of the Mercury News on Thanksgiving Day! https://wishbook.mercurynews.com/2022-wbpenfood/ Notes: We get many last minute requests to rescue food that might go to waste and deliver it to those in need. If you can be available on short notice, please validate your mobile number and check the box for last minute runs. Y ou can help get this food to those in need, and prevent it from going to waste! Also, if you want text reminders for the runs you sign up for, you must validate your mobile number. If you have a larger vehicle (SUV, truck or van), please indicate that. You can volunteer for a regular weekly or biweekly food run. You can also sign up for a one time run. You can volunteer as an individual, with family, co-workers or friends. (For insurance reasons, each volunteer over 18 years of age needs to sign up separately.) Together we can feed the hungry! And even significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the process! The Friends of the Redwood City Public Library is a 100% volunteer-based organization that sells pre-owned books and media to fund Redwood City Library programs like Little Learners or the Summer Learning Challenge. Currently our online sales are our major source of revenue to fund such programs. We are now looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to help us keep our online sales going. At this time, Friends is looking for volunteers under the age of 65 who can lift a 20-pound box and push a cart with 80 pounds of books. Masks and nitrile gloves are available on the sign-in table. Our operation of sorting and scanning books is a labor-intensive process. We have set an age qualifier out of an abundance of caution since, despite our requiring masks and social distancing, a steady stream of people walk past the Friends sorting area so you will be around others while volunteering. Friends is also working to find volunteer opportunities that can be done from home. We will give an update once opportunities have been identified. • Foster a Loving Adult Cat

    San Jose, CA 95112
It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

We urgently need Foster homes for Adult Kitties. Many of these adult kitties are surrendered to us or pulled from the shelter for various reasons, such as the owner's death, divorce, allergies, or moving out of the country. A key component of our rescue program is the foster home. Without adequate numbers of foster homes, we are limited in how many cats we can take in at one time. The principle behind fostering is to provide the cats entrusted to our care with a home environment in order to evaluate their habits and behaviors and to offer the new owner more information on the cat. We need caring, responsible cat lovers to join our foster home team by opening their homes and hearts to our rescue cats. 13th St. Cats provides all food and cat supplies and pays for medical care for our fosters. Please open your heart and home to these cats on their journey to their forever home! If you have any questions that aren't answered here, please contact us at: 408-566-3637 or info @13thstcats.org What Will I Need To Do as a Foster Parent? Foster homes are responsible for the daily care of the foster cat, including feeding, socializing, grooming, and of course, providing love and security to a special cat at an often difficult time in his or her life. You should have space, usually a spare room or bathroom, to house the fosters in, at least initially. If you have an existing cat, we recommend a separate bedroom to start so that the cats can slowly get to know your existing cat(s). We do go over best practices for fostering. How Long Does a Cat Stay in Foster Care? The foster stay varies with each cat. Cats with special needs may need to stay in foster care a bit longer. Foster homes control how long they are able to foster. How Much Does it Cost? Necessary veterinary care is provided by authorized veterinarians and paid for by 13th Street Cats. While we appreciate your donation of quality cat food or litter for your foster, we will happily provide them to you if you prefer. Litter boxes, toys, etc. are provided by 13th Street Cats.

    San Lorenzo, CA 94580
It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

Lasagna Love is a national movement with thousands of people cooking and delivering meals to families in their communities. What we do is simple: we feed families, spread kindness, and strengthen communities. Our mission is not only to help address the incredible rise in food insecurity among families but also to provide a simple act of love and kindness during this time full of uncertainty and stress. Lasagna Love matches neighbors who can provide a meal with a neighbor who needs a little help. You can decide how often you participate - once a month, multiple lasagnas weekly, or somewhere in between. You decide how far you can drive to deliver a meal, and if you can accommodate special diets like vegetarian or gluten free. The Lasagna Love Team does the best to match you with a neighbor in need. We also provide online trainings to help you get started and drop off meals contact free, recipes if you are looking for inspiration, and any other support you need. If you are looking for a flexible volunteer opportunity, or a way for your family to volunteer together to make a meal for a neighbor in need, this is a great opportunity to spread some kindness.

6300 Village ParkwayLivermore, Pleasanton, DublinDublin, CA 94568
It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you want to work with a young person who needs support, care, and a role model? We need YOU to mentor a student experiencing foster care. Be A Mentor is partnering with Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) to support youth in foster care. Since this program is through ACOE, the youth in the program are from Alameda County; however, are residing in the Modesto/Oakdale area, and need the support of a local mentor who can listen to and spend time with them while they are away from home. This is an in-person mentoring program. You will spend most of your time in the community with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about their needs. There will be opportunities to connect with other mentors and mentees in the area for support and activities. 1 on 1 mentoring gives students more opportunities for success regardless of their background. It’s especially important for youth who may not have consistent adults in their lives to connect with. All mentors are required to complete a background check and mentor trainings. Our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program. We ask that you commit to at least 2-hours per week for a full calendar year. Consistency is important to build trust between you and your mentee, especially when youth in foster care have experienced many relationship disruptions.
