Provide lovingly created handmade pieces of comfort and support to veterans, deployed service members and their families. No matter if you are an expert seamstress or a casual hobbyist, there is an opportunity to meet the needs of our troops on the Sewing and Crafting Team. Many Sewing and Crafting Team Angels (volunteers) rely on their personal talents and skill sets to knit, sew, crochet and quilt their gifts of support. For those less experienced, no-sew blankets provide an opportunity to become more involved. These handmade items are then distributed within the military community to active duty service members, expectant military families and in VA hospitals around the country. Soldiers’ Angels in conjunction with the Atlanta VA Health Care System hosts monthly luncheons for Veterans. Please come and join us! There are two location options for the luncheons: Fort McPherson VA Clinic, 1701 Hardee Ave. SW, Atlanta, GA 30310 Decatur Christian Towers, 1438 Church Street, Decatur, GA 30030 Volunteer time for each event is generally between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Volunteers for luncheons assist with: picking up lunches from the vendor and delivering to the site, area setup & clean up (when required), distributing lunches, and snapping photos during the event. Volunteers are encouraged to not only serve lunch but also, when possible, socialize with our Veterans during the luncheon! Help make the day brighter for a Veteran by volunteering to help here in Atlanta. A Soldiers' Angels staff member or key volunteer will be on site at each event so you have a direct point of contact, as well as the guidance and support you need to ensure your volunteer experience is amazing and the event is a success! The Soldiers’ Angels Baby Brigade Program helps expectant spouses of deployed service members and post-9/11 wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans in welcoming their sweet, little bundles of joy! Our "virtual baby showers" are so much fun to be a part of! We are looking for Team Angels (volunteers) who love to knit, crochet, sew and shop for all things baby! Our service men and women need our support and encouragement, and this is just one more way to do that. Would you like to help supply a deployed chaplain items to assit them in providing support and comfort to our deployed US Service Members? You can do so from the comfort of your home. You can provide this support through the Soldiers’ Angels Chaplains Support Team. Items might include non-denominational letters to distribute to service members, as well as gifts and supplies that can be easily distributed to service members who may be needing extra support. Because chaplains travel throughout the war zone, working with them helps Soldiers' Angels reach personnel who may be in remote locations, feeling isolated and lonely, and in need of a morale boost. We also strongly encourage these service members to submit their names for adoption through their chaplain.
