Bilingual Family Services Helper, 2-3 volunteers needed. Select any Monday thru Friday, 8:45am-12:15pm
Age Requirement: 18 years old or older

Drive-Thru Food Box Check-In is an outside activity.
Volunteers will help with check-in and use language skills as needed (Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese) as needed. Clients will remain in cars and hold food cards near window. Volunteers will scan bar code and record info. Volunteers will distribute food boxes for walk-up clients. Prefer volunteers who are willing to help multiple times in a month as there is on-the-job training that is learned.

Walk-Thru Food Box Check-In is an outside activity. Clients (many are Seniors) may not have vehicles or unable to drive and need to pick-up food using grocery carts or walkers. Volunteers will scan or record food box card number during check-in.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear face masks, but it is no longer required.

Appropriate Attire: Please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes (no flipflops, sandals, heels). Shirts should be either short or long-sleeved; no spaghetti strap, sleeveless, tank tops, mid-riff showing types. Shorts/skirts/dresses should be longer in length for bending and reaching.

Food assistance requests in the Family Services Office have doubled since during COVID-19. Volunteers are needed to help with food box distribution drive-thru and walk-thru for smoother and safer distribution to families, Seniors and homeless.

Required:
-Register as volunteer on-line on siliconvalley.salvationarmy.org select "2024 Bilingual Family Services Helper"
-Attend Volunteer Orientation (20-25 minutes) at least 3 days before first day volunteering
-Cleared on Megan's Law Registry
-Initial USDA Forms
-18 years old or older
-Volunteers going over 20 hours will need to complete Background Check
