The Friends of the Redwood City Public Library is a 100% volunteer-based organization that sells pre-owned books and media to fund Redwood City Library programs like Little Learners or the Summer Learning Challenge. Currently our online sales are our major source of revenue to fund such programs. We are now looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to help us keep our online sales going. As a volunteer you will be assisting in sorting and scanning donated materials and helping with our book donation drives. At this time, Friends is looking for volunteers under the age of 65 who can lift a 20-pound box and push a cart with 80 pounds of books. Per library policy, all volunteers will have to wear a mask, follow the sign- in/sign-out policy and take a temperature check upon arrival. Masks and nitrile gloves are available on the sign-in table. Our operation of sorting and scanning books is a labor-intensive process. We have set an age qualifier out of an abundance of caution since, despite our requiring masks and social distancing, a steady stream of people walk past the Friends sorting area so you will be around others while volunteering. Friends is also working to find volunteer opportunities that can be done from home. We will give an update once opportunities have been identified. If you would like to make a positive impact on our community and support our Library by volunteering, please send a short email to us at this address: friendsofrwclibrary@gmail.com
