Loving caring people are needed to visit lonely patients and/or support families. Many have been isolated because of Covid so your visit will make a huge difference. Hospice cares for people at the end of their lives, when your love will be felt more intensely. There are some Medicare requirements before you can volunteer but if you are willing to go through the training and paperwork you will make a big difference by soothing the lonely, and calming the stressed. Some may want you to play music on your phone for them or read to them. If you are ready to be an angel, please respond. You will be vitally important to these families and be so appreciated! We will try to make the training as simple as possible while still helping you acquire the skills you need. No skills are necessary to start except a loving, giving heart. You need to be 18 to visit patients. We also have virtual and office opportunities for all ages. We are looking forward to meeting you!

Virtual Opportunity
Show seniors that they are loved by making cards, sending emails, and making crafts. Seniors are sitting alone in their rooms with many having few or even no family visits. Here is where you come in. You can show them they are loved and appreciated by making them cards and sending emails. Brighten up their rooms with decorations, and give them comfort with wheel chair pillows. One volunteer is even making puzzles for them to do. Some are writing stories for them to read. We want to bring smiles to their faces. We also have a need for people to make educational videos. Make videos and/or interesting interactive curriculum for volunteer training. I would like the volunteers to get their training online watching and interacting with something fun and engaging. After all, volunteering should be enjoyable! Tech: Make assessments to go along with ongoing training that can be filled out online, and then printed and put into their folders. Any project: Your choice! Any hours you give will help a LOT! Bring a smile to the face of someone at the end of their life. Facing the end is a difficult time especially if you have no family. You can bring peace and comfort as you show you care. There is an application process, a background check and a training required by Medicare. Give someone the gift of your presence! What a precious gift! We cannot thank you enough.

SVH provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients and their families emphasizing quality of life when the quantity of life is limited. Our professional health care team includes our Medical Director, attending physicians, social workers, registered nurses, home health aids, chaplain, and volunteers who all strive to work together with the patient and family members with the ultimate goal of keeping the patient comfortable, free as possible from pain and anxiety, allowing the patient to die peacefully and with dignity.

Very well planned tasks, good communication for the most part. I wish I'd received a confirmation that they received our project, otherwise a wonderful experience.
