Virtual Opportunity
JaxTHRIVE is a youth-led, non-profit organization with a mission to educate and inspire refugee and low income children. For this Fall 2023 opportunity, we are looking for volunteer tutors/mentors to help refugee students new to the US with their homework. We need in-person volunteers who are in the Jacksonville, FL area and virtual tutors everywhere else. We are asking mentors to commit to at least one hour of tutoring each week during a time that is convenient with the tutor and student. Volunteers will need to review our JaxTHRIVE training video on our website (www.jaxthrive.org) before training. How does the program work? Each volunteer must commit to meeting with their mentee for at least 1 hour per week for the duration of the academic year, attend a virtual orientation and training, and provide the program director with feedback throughout the term. Virtual volunteers can negotiate their own schedule if the time works with the student. As a mentor, you will: Tutor your student at least once each week hone your cross-cultural skills expand your global network by meeting new people and making new friends assume a leadership role prepare for your future career by gaining valuable resume-building experience make a difference in someone’s life To participate, you must: volunteer for a minimum of 1 hour per week. be fluent in both written and spoken English.

Virtual Opportunity
JaxTHRIVE is a teen-led organization incorporated in 2017 to tutor refugee and low income students. This opportunity will be responsible for developing a creative social media campaign by assisting in the implementation of strategies and tactics to grow our audience and increase community engagement for our nonprofit organization. The Social Media & Digital Marketing position would be responsible for the following: Assist in managing JaxTHRIVE’s social media profile and presence on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Create engaging and shareable content based on our brand guidelines with the goal of increasing brand awareness through impressions, reach, engagement, and followers. Develop content in the form of posts, videos/reels, and stories. Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions keeping up with industry trends and news. Additional day-to-day tasks might include responding to inquiries in our inbox across social channels, engaging with comments left on posts, scheduling posts, and monitoring overall brand perception.

We meet each Saturday during the academic year to tutor refugee students in vocabulary, reading, math and STEM. JaxTHRIVE is made possible by the generosity of donors as well as the energy and commitment of volunteers.
