Mission Statement

The mission of Our City Forest is to cultivate a greener, healthier metropolis and a sense of community by involving Silicon Valley residents in the understanding, planting, care and appreciation of the urban forest.

Our City Forest has involved over 80,000 Santa Clara County residents in tree planting and tree care projects since 1993. The ultimate goal of the program is to facilitate the planting of one million trees in Silicon Valley, utilizing one million people. Over 250 residents have graduated from Our City Forest's 18-hour training course and are now certified "Tree Amigos." Through Our City Forest, these trained volunteers have helped organize over 900 planting projects, including 145 school projects. Over 22,000 shade trees have been planted. Dozens of community groups have participated in these projects including Rotary and Kiwanis service clubs, environmental clubs, Girl Scout troops and numerous neighborhood associations and schools.

People are very nice there. They also helped each other to plant trees.

Planting trees was fun! Got hands dirty and good for the family. Some events are harder than others because we are hand digging but as long as there are a good number of volunteers it is a good experience overall.
