San Jose, CA 95119
Kaiser Permanente's Hospice division is looking for volunteers in SOUTH San Jose to visit our terminally ill patients. As an integral part of the medical team, hospice volunteers work directly with nurses, doctors, social workers, physical therapists, and chaplains to provide companionship for our patients. We'll connect you with a patient close to where you live so that you can visit at a time that works for your schedule. Most of our patients are in their 80's and 90's and have been diagnosed with six months or less to live. You can hold a patient's hand, be a listener, sit quietly, play music, and share life stories. By spending time with hospice patients, you'll also give the caregiver a break for an hour or two. Volunteers are required to wear masks and will never be assigned to a patient with covid in the household. Comprehensive online training is provided to ensure that you become fluent in the policies, ethics, and benefits of Hospice Care. You will be required to watch an 8-hour online training program to begin our onboarding process. Opportunities are available days, evenings, or weekends. Come join a team that truly makes a difference in lives of community members!
