In the Bay Area
We have many a youth in foster care and they are being left in the cracks by systems that doesn't know how to nurture them. These kiddos need stable, inspiring people in their lives to mentor them, to provide them with the attention and support they need once school hours are over. They need mentors who understand what they are enduring and will show them there's more to the world than the neighborhood they were born in.

What can you do?
- Mentors connect with a deserving child to help them see their potential.
- Focus Mentor is a role model and friend.
- Mentors take part in a community to raise the children where we each have a role.
How does it work?
- Mentors spend minimum of 2 hours per week with youth
- Focus on schoolwork
- Go to movies
- Sporting events or museums
- Simply talk and be a trusted friend

Be A Mentor, Inc. was formed in April 1992 as a 501(C)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit agency. We provide proven and sustainable mentoring programs for agencies by recruiting, training and matching adult volunteers who wish to mentor youth. Description
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
