Do you like to garden, or would like to learn?? Our beautiful four-acre park is blooming with beautiful flowers, but we also have a lot of weeds this spring and need your help. We do not use herbicides in the park so weed digging/pulling and mulching are needed.
High school students 14 years of age or older can earn community service hours for this environmental education.
Adult volunteers are also needed

About Friends of Heirloom Flowers Garden Club of Fremont CA
Location:
1251 Peralta Blvd, Fremont, CA 94536, Fremont, CA 94536, US
Mission Statement
Friends of Heirloom Flowers is a volunteer gardening group that partners with the City of Fremont to maintain one of Fremont's historical parks. We have work parties every Tuesday at Shinn Park & Arboretum, 1251 Peralta Blvd., 10:00 to noon, then a social tea and coffee.
We introduce heirloom flowers into the gardens and maintain the integrity of the plants already there. We work as a flexible team, share ideas, preserve history, and enjoy the outdoors while making new friends.
Our quarterly membership meetings include speakers in gardening-related fields, and we take field trips to various gardens or related places of interest.
Description
We encourage all levels of gardeners to come help us maintain Shinn Park & Arboretum - seasoned gardeners to novices. We also welcome members whose schedules allow them to join us one or two Tuesdays a month. Just bring pruning shears, gloves, and a willingness to work.
We also encourage students to earn their extra credit and community service hours in our gardens; they just need to be mentored by one of our members.
ALL are welcome.
