Springwell Elder Services is an essential part of the social safety net for thousands of older adults each year. They are currently seeking volunteer drivers to help deliver hot, fresh meals to vulnerable Seniors in the town of Brookline Shifts are typically two hours once per week Mondays - Fridays from 11AM - 1PM. Requirements: - a reliable car, current driver's license and a clean driving record - willingness and ability to observe CDC/WHO guidelines (masks, six feet, hand sanitizer) - wants to be of service to Seniors - 55 years old or older

The Springwell Volunteer Ombudsman Program is an advocacy program for residents in Nursing Homes and Rest Homes. Springwell is currently seeking volunteer ombudsman for long-term care facilities in/near Wellesley, Needham and Brookline. Training is provided. As an Ombudsman, you meet with residents and hear any complaints or concerns they have, and with their permission, bring these complaints forward to staff. All work is documented and submitted in a timely way to the Program Manager. In addition to the weekly visits, there is a required monthly meeting at Springwell that volunteers attend for ongoing training, education and support. Typically about 2 hours, once per week (weekdays only). Please consider this very important volunteer activity. NOTE: THIS OPPORTUNITY IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEERS AGE 55+ THROUGH A FEDERAL GRANT FROM AMERICORPS SENIORS.

New Life Furniture Bank of MA assists individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness by providing them with gently used furniture and household goods. Assist with Order Gathering and Furniture Moving. This is a hands-on opportunity to see what households can receive through our service. Locate and gather client's furniture and household goods selections. What's involved: families will come to the warehouse and pick out their items. Movers will gather onto dollies & pallet jacks, and load items into a families U-Haul truck Volunteers are needed every other Friday from10-1pm This opportunity is available to adults 55 and older.

Norfolk Country RSVP is seeking drivers to support the Meals on Wheels program in North and South Weymouth.. The Meals on Wheels program helps bring nutrition and independence to Seniors and people with special disabilities. The need for volunteers is especially acute during the winter months. Drivers deliver pre-packed, hot meals to 10-12 homebound seniors locally. The typical time commitment is about 1.5 hours one morning per week between 10:00 AM and 12 noon. You need a valid driver's license and your own vehicle. Volunteers are reimbursed by RSVP and South Shore Elder Services for all travel-related expenses. PLEASE NOTE: This volunteer opportunity is available only to adults age 55 and older

Norfolk County RSVP Free Rides for Veterans Make a HUGE difference by driving local Veterans to and from medical appointments using your own vehicle. Mileage reimbursement (@$.40/mile) and supplemental liability insurance provided by RSVP. Flexible scheduling. Drivers self-select rides based on where, when and how often they want to drive veterans to their appointments. Minimum of two rides per month. Help veterans that don't own a car, are no longer able to drive and/or cannot afford the cost of a taxi or Uber get to their medical appointments. Trips may be local or to a VA Hospital including Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, or Brockton. For everybody's safety during the current pandemic, all drivers and riders must wear masks, use hand sanitizer before entering the vehicle and follow other common-sense safety precautions. Requires MA driver’s license, reliable car and background check. Norfolk County RSVP is a community service program for volunteers who are 55 and over. We work with over fifty municipal, non-profit and healthcare organizations to recruit and match volunteers with programs that meet community needs.
