Meal Delivery to Homebound Elders in Brookline

Springwell Elder Services is an essential part of the social safety net for thousands of older adults each year. They are currently seeking volunteer drivers to help deliver hot, fresh meals to vulnerable Seniors in the town of Brookline Shifts are typically two hours once per week Mondays - Fridays from 11AM - 1PM. Requirements: - a reliable car, current driver's license and a clean driving record - willingness and ability to observe CDC/WHO guidelines (masks, six feet, hand sanitizer) - wants to be of service to Seniors - 55 years old or older

Seeking Tuesday Afternoon Front Desk Volunteer for Interfaith Social Services

I nterfaith Social Services (ISS) is dedicated to improving life for South Shore families and individuals in need. Our unique approach relies on a team of volunteers, donors and community partners to deliver compassionate, client-centered programs focused on hunger, mental health and emergency assistance. ISS is currently seeking a special individual to serve as their front-desk volunteer Tuesday afternoons each week. Become the friendly face of Interfaith to greet those who come to our front door. Volunteers will also be responsible for answering the phone, scanning and shredding documents as needed, maintaining Food Pantry client forms and performing other administrative tasks as needed. The ideal volunteer will have excellent consumer services skills and a basic comfort with computers and light data-entry. Time Commitment: One volunteer needed on Tuesday afternoons from 12:30 - 3:30pm. We ask that you can commit to this once a week shift for at least 3 months. Our offices and Thrift Shop are located in Quincy, Massachusetts. This opportunity is offered to volunteers age 55 and older

Become a patient advocate for long term care residents in Needham, Brookline or Wellesley

The Springwell Volunteer Ombudsman Program is an advocacy program for residents in Nursing Homes and Rest Homes. Springwell is currently seeking volunteer ombudsman for long-term care facilities in/near Wellesley, Needham and Brookline. Training is provided. As an Ombudsman, you meet with residents and hear any complaints or concerns they have, and with their permission, bring these complaints forward to staff. All work is documented and submitted in a timely way to the Program Manager. In addition to the weekly visits, there is a required monthly meeting at Springwell that volunteers attend for ongoing training, education and support. Typically about 2 hours, once per week (weekdays only). Please consider this very important volunteer activity. NOTE: THIS OPPORTUNITY IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEERS AGE 55+ THROUGH A FEDERAL GRANT FROM AMERICORPS SENIORS.

New Life Furniture Bank of MA assists individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness by providing them with gently used furniture and household goods. Assist with Order Gathering and Furniture Moving. This is a hands-on opportunity to see what households can receive through our service. Locate and gather client's furniture and household goods selections. What's involved: families will come to the warehouse and pick out their items. Movers will gather onto dollies & pallet jacks, and load items into a families U-Haul truck Volunteers are needed every other Friday from10-1pm This opportunity is available to adults 55 and older.

Deliver Meals to Homebound Seniors in Dedham

HESSCO Elder Services is currently seeking two Meals on Wheels drivers to deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound elders in Dedham. Drivers are needed on Tuesday and Thursday late morning. This is a wonderful way to support isolated elders and bring a smile to their faces. Approximate time commitment is about 1.5 hours, Mileage reimbursement is provided by HESSCO Elder Services. A valid MA driver's license and reliable vehicle are required. PLEASE NOTE: This volunteer opportunity is available only to adults age 55 and older

Mary Girard leads a host of Volunteers that permeate the VA Hospital in West Roxbury, MA. Mary is positive and respectful. I have been volunteering at web services help desk. I have had the opportunity to meet veterans varying in age and expertise. They are a fine example of the women and men that have given themselves for our country's defense. Other volunteers are just as happy. It's a great place to use your gratitude in contributing your time.
