We are seeking volunteer groups to help us with large food distributions once per month at our Downtown location. Volunteers will: Sort and pack canned goods and non-perishable items in the food pantry. Help distribute food boxes or bags. Disassemble boxes and discard in recycle bin. Discard expired food. Assist in setting up and cleaning up. Qualifications: Able to work with public, have a heart for working with homeless and low-income individuals. Must be able to lift and carry a 20 pound food bag for distribution. Ability to stand for most of the shift. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred, but not required. Please note: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Join our emerging professionals advisory board! Echelon is a branch of The Salvation Army’s local advisory board with the goal of mobilizing the next generation to engage with the organization through networking, fundraising, and volunteering. What we are looking for: Currently we are looking for young leaders (ages 21-40) in our community with a passion for making an impact in today's most pressing social issues such as homelessness and food insecurity. What we do: Echelon meets once or twice a month for volunteer, fundraising, and/or networking events. Volunteering: members might help serve food at our monthly BBQ or assist in programs in our family shelter programs. Fundraising: volunteers help raise funds to assist with programs such as back to school or senior nutrition. Socializing: programs might include, group hikes, professional headshots, mixers. Commitment: Commit to one service event per month(~3 hours per month) board members commit for a year and regular members 6 months.
