Join Our Senior Nutrition Volunteer Team! **THIS IS AN ONGOING POSITION, MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR A MINIMUM OF SIX MONTHS OR MORE. ** Are you ready to make a difference in your community? We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us serve food and drinks to our senior clients. Your efforts will bring smiles and hope to many! What You'll Do: Serve Refreshments: Delight our senior clients by serving coffee, tea, and water. Distribute Joy: Assist in handing out meals to our community members. Assemble Utensil Sets: Prepare utensil sets to ensure our senior nutrition lunches are ready to enjoy. Qualifications: Screening Process: Requires a quick interview over the phone, a background check, three references, and a few online trainings. Weekly Commitment: Must commit to volunteering at least once a week for 6 months. Strength and Stamina: Able to lift and carry a 20-pound food bag and stand for most of the shift. Heart for Service: Must be able to work with the public and have a passion for helping homeless and low-income individuals. Please Note: We are NOT accepting court-ordered community service volunteers for this position. Client Service: Facilitate the distribution of pre-packaged food supplies to community recipients in accordance with program guidelines. Facility Maintenance: Perform essential operational tasks including cardboard breakdown, removal of expired inventory, and maintaining pantry cleanliness to ensure readiness for subsequent distribution cycles. Qualifications: Client-Focused Approach: Demonstrated ability to engage professionally with the public, with particular dedication to serving homeless and low-income populations. Physical Requirements: Capacity to lift and transport 20-pound food packages and maintain standing position throughout shift duration. Must demonstrate self-sufficiency while also responding effectively to supervision. Work Environment: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting with multiple concurrent responsibilities and changing priorities. Language Proficiency: Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish or English/Mandarin) are highly valued but not mandatory. Please Note: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Program Assistant to support our volunteer coordination efforts through essential administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities Communication & Inquiry Management Respond to general volunteer inquiries via email, phone, and in-person interactions Provide accurate information about volunteer opportunities, requirements, and application processes Direct complex inquiries to appropriate staff members Maintain professional and welcoming communication with prospective and current volunteers Phone Support Answer incoming calls related to volunteer programs Take detailed messages and ensure timely follow-up Provide basic information about volunteer opportunities and organizational programs Transfer calls to appropriate departments when necessary Data Management & Record Keeping Accurately log volunteer hours into an organizational database or tracking system Maintain up-to-date volunteer records and contact information Assist with data entry and filing tasks related to volunteer programs General Administrative Support Help prepare volunteer materials and information packets Support special events and volunteer recognition activities Perform other administrative duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic computer proficiency, including email and database systems.
