General Description This volunteer position is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet mission and programs to potential funders in TX related to the Warriors’ Angels-TX (WA-TX) and MVP Sanctuary-TX (MVPS-TX) programs. Reports to the National CEO. Average time involved: 25-30 hours per month Responsibilities Conducts research to locate potential grant opportunism for the organization related to the organization’s WA and MVPS programs in supporting our military and veteran communities Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making agencies, persuasively communication the organization’s mission and program to potential funders. Assembling proposed grant request/proposal including letters, proposal, budget, and presentation for review by the National COO and appropriate Program Director Submitting grant proposals following review and approval by COO and appropriate program directors. Maintain required Excel workbooks/spreadsheets for proposed and approved Grant tracking Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of foundation grants/gifts Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submissions of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports Conducting prospect research Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines, and manage supplemental material required for proposals Providing written support for major donor and individual contribution letters and acknowledgements. Prepares and submits the Volunteer Service Hours report each month to the National office (by 5 th of each month) Maintain 2-way communications with the CEO Development Director by replying to emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Skills/Qualifications Grant Writing certification or Bachelors/Associate degree in English or Communications and/or a minimum of 2 years in grant research and writing very helpful Previous experience with non-profit fundraising preferred Ability to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, has experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information High level of computer literacy required especially related to the Internet, Microsoft or Open Office software, and various grant related databases Ability to work well under pressure Ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and sufficient form Solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

Description The National Marketing & Communications Director is a virtual volunteer role for Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet responsible for the organization’s marketing and communications strategy. As the lead of the National Marketing/Communications Team, this position overseas all areas of marketing and communication for the organization. This role reports to the CEO. Responsibilities Strategy Develop creative marketing and communications strategies, plans and approaches to position the organization in front of different stakeholders (military service members, potential foster homes, potential donors, potential volunteers and the general public). Identifies challenges and emerging issues that may face the organization. Works with National Headquarters to recognize internal and external communications opportunities. Acts as a resource on best marketing/communications practices to other volunteers. Brand Management Ensure the brand meets the guidelines of the style guide. Overseas any new development of the organization’s brand with the Graphic Designer. Acts as a brand ambassador to the public and internal volunteers. Collateral Overseas all print collateral for the organization. Collaborates with Graphic Designer on content, layout, and design. Electronic Communications Plan the electronic communications editorial calendar (newsletters and email blasts) with Communications Manager. Collaborates with the Blog Editor on potential articles for the organization’s blog. Drafts internal communication items to distribute to volunteers. Reviews all electronic communication items prior to distribution. Social Media Overseas social media program. Website Develops web strategy, any new webpages and ensures that website is up-to-date with the Webmaster. Media Relations Exercises judgment to prioritize media opportunities to present to the Board and CEO. Reviews all talking points to ensure that the organizations key messages are conveyed and are consistent. Serves as the Media Contact in there is no Media Relations Manager in place. Staff Management Recruit and manage National Marketing Team to support all marketing and communications efforts. Mentor and train volunteers on an as needed basis based on skill levels. Administrative Responsible to check official email account on a daily basis. Provide updates to CEO on a monthly basis. Prepares and submits the monthly "Volunteer Service Hours" report to the National office Desired Skills A passion to help our military service members, veterans, and their beloved pets plus work with other people who share this passion Writing and editing experience. Understand, follow, and adhere to the Organization’s mission, purpose, operating procedures, and organizational policies and guidelines. Professional, organized, reliable, able to work with a diverse group of people, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable using and access to MS office pro (such as Word, Excel, Power Point) or Open Office and communicate via the internet, phone calls, and email. Have their own computer (desktop or laptop) Comfortable promoting the organization and mission with family, friends, co-workers, and other military/veteran organizations Marketing, Communications, or Media Relations background preferred. The virtual volunteer role of Community Outreach Liaison (COL) acts as the liaison between Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet(c) (GAfSP) and his/her local community and surrounding areas. The target objectives are: 1) to interact with the military and community news outlets and 2) to represents the organization with information tables at various civilian and military held events within their respective local area and state This virtual volunteer role: (1) reports to the National Marketing & Communications Director; (2) is NOT involved with fundraising other than when asked, can advise an individual or another organization of how they may donate if they choose to. Responsibilities: Communications Outreach Represents the organization at the state level or a certain area of a specific state with military and non-military media contacts. Educates the civilian and military communities about who we are, what we do, and how we do it. Develop and maintain relationships with local media and military "Public Affair Offices" (PAOs) or Recruiter locations to promote the organization. Contributes to the organization’s newsletter and blog as appropriate. Event Outreach Identifies, contacts, and maintains a list of potential events within their state or specific area of the state where an "Information Table" could be set up and make the necessary contacts/arrangements to be in attendance at such events. Works with organizations/businesses who have contacted Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet (national or state level) requesting our presence at a fundraiser they are holding where the organization has been designated to receive the net proceeds from such event. Submits any documents required to be prepared by an Event Host in order for our participation at such event to the National office for review and official required signature. Recruit volunteers within the area of the event to help at a specific event with the Information Table (if necessary). Works with the National Marketing & Communications Director to get the word out about Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet’s participation at these events. Administrative Complete understanding of the organization and its mission. Checks the official assigned email account on a daily basis Maintain open communications with the Natl Marketing Director on a timely basis via email or phone. Respond to any requests from the Natl Marketing Director in a timely and professional manner Prepares and submits the monthly "Volunteer Service Hours" report to the National Office by the 5 thof the month following the reporting month. Desired Skills: A passion to help our military service members, veterans, and their beloved pets plus work with other people who share this passion. The "Foster Coordination Liaison" (FCL): This position is a virtual volunteer role for Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet(c) at the state level acting on behalf of the organization and responsible for assisting an active duty Military or Wounded Warrior or Veteran "legal pet owner" (aka our "Client") in recommending a potential foster home which closely emulates the pet(s) living environment and acting as the liaison between our "Client" and the agreed to foster home (Guardian Angel) to care for the pet(s) during the specified foster term. In addition, the FCL will help promote the organization's mission and purpose within and around the local communities where she resides. This position is NOT responsible for fundraising. May attend/participate in local events as a representative of the organization, or doing presentations when discussed and approved in writing by the National CEO. Each FCL will cover a minimum of 2 states up to 6 states depending on where the FCL resides. For Example: FCL resides in IL or IN will cover both states - FCL resides in one of the New England states will cover the states of CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, and VT. ****************************************************************************************
