The National Alliance on Mental Illness St. Louis (NAMI STL) is hiring Lead and Young Adult presenters for our Ending the Silence (ETS) program. ETS is a 50-minute, engaging presentation that helps middle and high school aged youth learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition. These presentations include two leaders: a Lead presenter, who shares an informative presentation and a Young Adult presenter who shares their lived experience with a mental health condition. Lead and Young Adult presenters must have: lived experience with a mental health condition daytime availability be comfortable speaking in front of groups of people (average size is 25 people) Young Adult presenters must: be between the ages of 18-30 be willing to share their lived experience with a mental health condition Training includes an online portion and a live, in-person or Zoom training with a NAMI Staff member. After you are trained and have passed a background check, you will be able to sign up to give your first ETS presentations. We are a non-profit organization committed to education, advocacy, and support services for people living with a mental health condition and their families, caregivers and friends. NAMI St. Louis mission is to provide education, advocacy, and support essential to the recovery, resilience, and well-being of all who have mental health needs and for their families, caregivers, and the community. The ideal candidate will have experience living with a mental health condition or is a family member of someone living with a mental health condition. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in marketing, public relations, social media, law, mental health, school administration and non-profit management.

NAMI St. Louis is looking for volunteers to facilitate Connection Support Groups (CSG). NAMI Connection Support Group’s are free groups for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Participants share their experiences in a safe setting, which allows them to gain hope and develop supportive relationships. NAMI Support Groups are peer-led, meaning that they are led by people with similar experiences. Connection Support Group facilitators are people who are living with a mental health condition and would like to help support others who are experiencing something similar. Groups are led by 2 people and will meet once each month for 90 minutes per group. Our 2024 training dates for CSG are February 24-25 and August 3-4, from 8:00am-5:00pm and will be taught online. Upon successfully completing the training, you will be a certified NAMI Support Group leader. We are open to starting groups anywhere, but are especially interested in starting groups in St Louis City, North St Louis County and Washington, MO.
