Client Transportation Driver

Drive our Gaithersburg seniors and adults with disabilities to medical and social service appointments in the local area. Usually, wait with the client and then return the client to home. For lengthy appointments, return and pick up the client when the client is ready. Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle. A background/MVA check will be performed. General duties include: Logging into the client database to book clients requests for rides and/or do so via email. Contacting clients at the time of booking the rides and contacting clients the day before their appointment to verify desired pickup time and destination addresses too. Transporting the clients to and from their medical or service appointment; target destinations are generally within a 20-mile radius of downtown Gaithersburg. Client Transportation Scheduler

Check voicemail line for messages left by our clients who are Gaithersburg seniors and adults with disabilities in need of transportation to medical and social service appointments in the local area and home. Client Transportation Schedulers connect clients with drivers via their requests. A background/MVA check will be performed. General duties include: Call into voicemail system to take client requests from the voicemail system, and return phone calls to confirm details of the requested ride. Enter data into an established database for clients doctor’s appointment information for each ride request. Communicate with drivers via professional email account and/or call them to find an available volunteer driver to drive the clients to their appointments, and occasionally to pick up their medications after their doctor’s appointments before taking them back home. Technical Assistant Client Transportation

This position is responsible for general computing and administrative support for the transportation program. The primary computing tool currently used by the transportation program is the RideScheduler program, a cloud-based database application developed exclusively to meet the needs of nonprofit transportation providers. A background/MVA check will be performed. General duties include: Provide general administrative and technical support to the Director, Transportation Program, Transportation Schedulers and Transportation Drivers. Conduct refresher training on using RideScheduler as needed. Review and perform "housekeeping" updates to the RideScheduler database as needed. This includes such things as updating the driver’s license and insurance expiration dates in driver records and cleaning up the Common Addresses list. Requirements for Technical Assistants Our volunteer Technical Assistants: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a background in good standing Since Technical Assistants use their own computer from home, a well working one would be required and can be either a desktop or laptop Have a general IT background, degree is not required but can help. The mission of Gaithersburg HELP is to provide individuals and families in the Gaithersburg area with emergency assistance to resources that are available, and to provide information and referrals to other organizations and agencies. We accomplish this mission through the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors.

Gaithersburg HELP is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing emergency food and infant supplies, transportation and financial assistance for medical prescriptions and other emergency needs.

It is an amazing company doing amazing things for the community. The work is clearly explained to you during training and there is always someone to help (via email or phone) if you need it. Scheduling is done from within the comfort of your own home and it keeps you extremely busy for the one week a month that you do volunteer work as a transportation scheduler. I really love this volunteer job and do not plan on leaving anytime soon.

Gaithersburg HELP is a local community organization managed solely by volunteers. This group not only provides food for families in the Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village area, but also provides infant supplies as well, which is something not always offered by food banks. In addition to the food and infant needs, this volunteer group tries to offer various other services to the community and is a great asset to these communities. Every person I've met while volunteering here has their own job and family, but they've taken time out of their own lives to help support this organization that does so much for our community.
