Are you at a point in your life where you want to do something meaningful that helps others? Are you self motivated and a good listener? Have you had a personal loss of someone who received great hospice care? We are looking for people just like you! Contact us today to find out more. As a volunteer, your support may include: Companionship for the patient Respite/Relief for primary caregivers Emotional support for families Bereavement support Clerical help for the Hospice office Assistance with errands or "light" household tasks Veterans for Veterans support All classes are through online portal or taught by Hospice personnel(pre COVID times) and are designed to help volunteers understand the Hospice concept of care, acquaint them with the dynamics that are unique to each family, spiritual dynamics of dying, grief and bereavement issues, sharpen listening and communication skills, and familiarize them with the stages of death.

Pet Peace of Mind for Lehigh Valley Hospice Patients

Lehigh Valley Hospice Volunteer Program is "em- barking" on a new program for our patients’ pets. It is called Pet Peace Of Mind which is a national initiative. It is designed to assist patients and families with the care of their beloved pets at a time when they are least able to provide for them. Such duties include fulfilling pet care needs, keeping food supplies in place, waste pick up/litter box cleaning, arranging pets to veterinary appointments, grooming services, temporary boarding in emergency situations, and eventually helping to re-home the pet. Qualifications: Must understand dynamics of pet ownership including basic pet responsibility and health care. A strong background in animal handling (different breeds of dogs and cats) experience is highly desirable. The ideal candidate may be someone who has volunteered at a shelter or worked in the veterinary field. You MUST Complete regular hospice volunteer training as mandated by Medicare. Also must complete all background checks.

End of Life Doula for Lehigh Valley Hospice

If so, then consider talking with us about becoming a Hospice End of Life Doula Volunteer. Receive specialized end of life training (4 days) and work with the LVHN hospice team to bring quality of life to those individuals who are seeking something a little different. Prerequisite is hospice volunteer training and the full screening process with background checks.
