Lehigh Valley Hospice Volunteer Program is "em- barking" on a new program for our patients’ pets. It is called Pet Peace Of Mind which is a national initiative. It is designed to assist patients and families with the care of their beloved pets at a time when they are least able to provide for them. Such duties include fulfilling pet care needs, keeping food supplies in place, waste pick up/litter box cleaning, arranging pets to veterinary appointments, grooming services, temporary boarding in emergency situations, and eventually helping to re-home the pet.

Qualifications: Must understand dynamics of pet ownership including basic pet responsibility and health care. A strong background in animal handling (different breeds of dogs and cats) experience is highly desirable. The ideal candidate may be someone who has volunteered at a shelter or worked in the veterinary field. You MUST Complete regular hospice volunteer training as mandated by Medicare. Also must complete all background checks.
