This is an opportunity for a friendly outgoing volunteer. This volunteer will work as part of a team processing donations, serving customers, and keeping the shop tidy. If you have a passion for helping others and would like to support the mission of providing health and hospice care to those in need in our surrounding community this opportunity if for you! The New Canaan Thrift shop exists to help raise funds for patient care provided by Waveny Visiting Nurse and Hospice, a community healthcare services nonprofit committed to excellence and compassionate care. We are seeking to build and grow our current team of fabulous and dedicated volunteers to help us cover regular shifts and also fill occasional shifts when there may be an unexpected absence or vacation. As an organization we are committed to providing opportunities for those looking to explore a new career direction, or share their prior professional experience in a way that is fulfilling and also benefits others. High school age volunteers are welcome and we value the fresh perspective they bring.

We are seeking a volunteer to assist the team with several tasks: printing and sending reports to healthcare providers, in office faxing, calls to patients and physicians offices, cleaning telemedicine equipment, assembling educational folders etc. This is a great opportunity to gain experience of this innovative medical technology alongside healthcare professionals in a trusted community nonprofit committed to increasing access to healthcare for all community members.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the arts, medicine, physical therapy, nutrition, music, gardening and floral design to learn and grow in our nonprofit community based healthcare services organization. Students will learn about our healthcare services and therapeutic programs including our innovative telemedicine program. A personalized summer student program can be designed to suit interests and schedule. Options include week long daily attendance or a regular once or twice a week schedule. Looking for an activity for your group? Would you like to assist our staff with a fun, therapeutic recreation activity with our senior residents? Waveny LifeCare Network provides residential care for seniors in long term skilled nursing, memory care and independent living, based in New Canaan. This opportunity will suit those with a warm and outgoing personality and bring much joy to all involved! Group activities can be tailored to your interests and talents. Perhaps you would like to join us for an afternoon Birthday party? Decorate and set up the room, help pass out refreshments and socialize with residents? Perhaps you would like to come one evening at 6pm and host a "Paint and sip" activity serving sparkling apple juice and then sitting alongside residents to paint a picture? Perhaps you would like to join us to play an active game of balloon volleyball? We also welcome groups interested in beautifying the grounds by working on our raised beds and planting annuals. We are seeking a warm and friendly individual with good communication skills to greet visitors as they arrive and answer phone calls at the Village Reception Desk during lunch hour on weekdays. The Village is an Assisted Living residence, part of the continuum of services offered by Waveny LifeCare Network. As a Waveny volunteer you will become part of a vibrant and caring team, welcomed and deeply appreciated by our residents, staff and fellow volunteers. Training and supervision will be given. We also welcome those who are seeking to build up their office/phone skills or gain experience in a medical environment. Providing regular or occasional cover on the Front Desk is a great way to support this non-profit and help contribute to continuing the tradition of excellence and strong partnerships with surrounding communities.
