Mission Statement

Committed to our community for over 50 years as a trusted nonprofit, Waveny LifeCare Network (Waveny) has sought to provide the highest quality of care since 1975. Our full spectrum of care anticipates your every need. From at-home rehabilitation to long-term therapy and nursing care, hospice and everything in between, Waveny provides award-winning personalized solutions for patients of all ages. Our community outreach includes school nursing, community health screenings, health education and wellness programs. Over the past 110 years Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County has helped thousands of individuals, and their loved ones cope with terminal illness with comfort, peace and dignity. Joining forces with Waveny in 2021 VNHFC enabled the Waveny volunteer program to expand to offer opportunities at the New Canaan Thrift Shop and as part of the hospice and bereavement support volunteer team.

Description

Our Volunteer program impacts the lives of our patients, residents AND volunteers providing enrichment, social connection, purpose and opportunities to learn and grow while making a difference!
As a nonprofit organization, we are a mission-based provider of healthcare, housing and support services to approximately 2,400 people every year. Waveny relies on our talented staff and hundreds of volunteers to deliver the highest quality of person-centered care every day. Our compassion is reflected in the smiles of the caregivers and those in our care, and our quality earns us industry accolades each year. The generosity of spirit we see in these connections mirrors the commitment of our donors to help us carry out this important work. Our Volunteer program provides a wide range of opportunities and flexible hours. We invest in our volunteer team providing training and mentoring to maximize the impact of the time and skills shared. We are grateful for our core team of volunteers, some of whom have been participating for decades, and we also welcome new volunteers and can incorporate what ever time you can offer.
