RFL Instructors provide training in their divisions/regions to build capacity and knowledge around International Services and the global Red Cross Red Crescent mission. They are responsible for training Red Cross paid and volunteer staff in International Services related course content so that services can be provided in their local communities. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate International Services courses, primarily focusing in the RFL Caseworker course, but including the RFL Outreach workshop, Fundamental Principles or other available International Services courses Teach the RFL Casework Course at least once a year, supporting your region and if possible neighboring regions. Updating training records in learning management system Stay up-to-date on Restoring Family Links program updates through participation in International Services conference calls and by receiving program email updates. Qualifications: Be a qualified instructor in another Red Cross course or have successfully completed the Basic Instructor Fundamentals Course or Instructor Specialty Course (Required) Be certified as a Restoring Family Links instructor by RFL Master Instructor (Required) Have strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation and facilitation skills (Required) Be available to teach the RFL Instructor Course when needed (Required) Be willing to keep up-to-date on RFL program updates through participation in RFL conference calls and email updates (Required) Have experience with RFL work in some capacity (casework, casework supervision, outreach/promotion of RFL activities, training) (Preferred) Have experience managing training events and an instructor roster (Preferred) Training: We provide all the training! Complete the RFL Instructor course facilitated by RFL Master Instructor, having previously completed the RFL Caseworker course or experience providing casework in your community. Preferably have previously completed other American Red Cross course in facilitation. Training provided by the Red Cross, estimated 7-9 total hours. Complete training within 3 months. Time Commitment: Commit 10 hours a month to plan, facilitate, report IHL outreach and classes. due to trainings requirements ,we seek volunteers able to spend at least a year with us. A minimum of 6 months would be acceptable for some scenarios. Purpose: This position supports the Regional International Services department. Restoring Family Links Caseworkers provide services to people who have been separated from their family members in another country due to armed conflict, international migration, disasters, or other humanitarian emergencies. RFL Caseworkers provide these services through delivering and collecting Red Cross Messages containing vital family news, conducting searches in their community to locate missing family members, speaking with clients to gather details to begin searching for their missing relatives, reaching out to community organizations and groups to inform them of Restoring Family Links Services, and providing appropriate referrals to other services a client may need. Key Responsibilities: Conduct interviews with clients to gather the details to initiate a search for their loved ones. Search for missing relatives in your community through: reviewing and analyzing case details in the case management database, conducting home visits, speaking with community members, and contacting organizations serving refugees and migrants. Deliver Red Cross Family News Messages to clients from their relatives, as well as collect replies. Keep clients informed of the progress made on their cases. Deliver news to clients on the results of their search. Enter new case information and case updates into case management database accurately and thoroughly. Provide competent, high quality, and efficient casework services to clients while displaying empathy and adhering to the Fundamental Principals of the Red Cross as well as the program standards and guidance set forth by National Headquarters. Identify successful stories to promote RFL services Qualifications: Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and submission of vaccine status and supporting documentation in Volunteer Connection if participating in in-person activities and/or performing work in a Red Cross facility. Desire to support the American Red Cross humanitarian mission through reconnecting separated families. (Required) Ability to work independently with diverse populations in a culturally competent manner, and to embody the Red Cross Fundamental Principals including Impartiality and Neutrality. (Required) Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and experience working in databases; coupled with excellent research skills and comfort using technology. The Red Cross Riverside County Chapter is in need of COVID-19 Shelter Service Associate temp positions. The Shelter Service Associate is a temporary position assigned to work in person in a Red Cross shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event this hurricane/wildfire season . Shelter Service Associates complete tasks necessary for shelter operations and provide assistance for disaster clients. Shelter Service Associates support the day-to-day activities within a shelter which may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information, or other areas within a shelter. Key Responsibilities: Following worker safety procedures for working in a COVID environment Embodying the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross in their work with clients, disaster responders, and partners Providing excellent client service and support the daily maintenance of the shelter operation at the direction of the assigned Shelter Supervisor Using the Shift Tool during the disaster event to report availability and schedule shelter shifts Completing the required virtual self-paced training (3 hours of training total) Time Commitment: Local: Minimum of 5 days working 4-, 6- or 12-hour shifts Beyond region: Minimum of 14 days working 8 or 12 hour shifts Hurricane/Wildfire Season 2020 Required Qualifications: Ability to build appropriate and effective relationships with co-workers and shelter residents. Ability to support and correct performance, manage conflict and ask for help early on so that workflow and service delivery does not impact shelter residents or the shelter community. Demonstrates clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication. Lift / carry 20 lbs. multiple times/shift. Stand and or sit for two-hour periods and walk for two miles during a shift. Walk on uneven terrain. Work outdoors in inclement weather, extreme heat and/or humidity and/or extreme cold. Climb two or more flights of stairs. Speak clearly on phone and in person. Work for long periods on computer and/or reading small print and/or writing.
