Visit individuals on hospice services to offer a one-on-one caring presence! Our volunteers spend time listening to stories, building relationships, doing crafts, helping with simple chores, and other activities that make a huge difference in the lives of people with terminal illnesses. Suncrest is looking for people who can commit to a few hours a week for ongoing visits with our patients. We match volunteers with patients based on interests, skills, need, and location. We are especially looking for volunteers in the West Valley (Surprise, Sun City, Goodyear) areas, but we have opportunities across the entire Phoenix metro area. We would love to meet you and bring you on-board to one of our care teams! We match volunteers with patients based on interests, skills, need, and location. While pets are not required to be certified, we do require a copy of current vaccination records, and behavioral assessment. We would love to meet you and bring you on board to one of our care teams! Suncrest is looking for a licensed hair stylist who would be willing to visit our patients at home and provide basic hair cutting and grooming services. This would not be consistent volunteer work (one day/week for a set time period), but rather on an as-needed basis that works around your personal and professional schedule. We service patients wherever they call home, all over Maricopa county, however, we do take distance and travel time into consideration before requesting a volunteer visit our patients. We would love to meet you and bring you on board! We provide training and ongoing support to help you grow into this unique role. Suncrest Hospice and Palliative Care values Veteran volunteers as a commitment to recognize and provide a specialized level of care to our Veteran patients. Our Veteran patients come to us with a unique set of experiences. Suncrest seeks to bring a higher level of awareness to them by assisting to connect them with the services and benefits that they qualify for, in addition to matching them to Veteran volunteers in our Veteran - to - Veteran program. Having the knowledge and awareness of how to support and respect these experiences is vital in making meaningful connections for our patients as the brave this last patrol. What you can do to support Veterans on hospice: Create emotionally safe environments for Veterans to express their feelings and needs. Acknowledge physical, emotional, or spiritual pain. Facilitate discussion, reminiscing, and/or life review. Show appreciation through Veteran-specific recognition projects throughout the year. We have nearly 200 patients across Maricopa county, so there are plenty of opportunities for you to match with patients throughout your journey with Suncrest. Patient visits may include companionship in the form of conversation, arts and crafts, playing card or board games, listening to music, and 11th hour vigil support. Would you like to volunteer your crafting skills to make fidget blankets, catheter privacy bags, or memorial projects? Suncrest Hospice is looking for creative volunteers to help make these items, and many others, for our terminally ill patients and their loved ones. For each project, all materials needed will be provided - we just need your help to make these ideas come to life! Memorial pillows and bears are created using fabrics from our patients. These keepsakes are then offered as gifts to families after their loved one passes. You can work from the office, or from the comfort of your home.
