Our nonprofit, GoodwheelChairs.org, repairs and refurbishes donated wheelchairs and scooters to sell at a reduced, affordable price to those with little or no insurance. Our current shop manager is thinking about retiring, and he would like to train a new shop manager before he does. If we did decide to hire you after your volunteer time in training, you need to know that we don't pay much ($250 a month), but it's rewarding work where you get to help people in a very tangible way. The shop manager does light repair work, installs batteries, maintains the database, runs errands, replies to emails and phone calls, and helps customers who are interested in buying the chairs. You'd be working out of our small shop and could essentially make your own hours. You'd be helping out those who are less mobile and providing a valued resource to Austin and our nonprofit.

Reliable pickup/delivery service needed. We need someone to pick up and/or deliver wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility scooters for our nonprofit ( http://www.GoodwheelChairs.org) on a reliable basis. Our nonprofit is located in south-central Austin. We usually have one or two pickups per week in the Austin area. If you are only able to pick up wheelchairs occasionally, that's OK, but we do need you to do whatever you commit to. Generally there will be just one or two chairs per pickup, though sometimes there are more so it's helpful if you have access to a larger van sometimes. You need to be able to load the chairs at the pickup location and unload them when you arrive here so it's helpful if you have a built-in ramp, though we do have a portable ramp you can use. Many of the chairs have been sitting in garages for a long time so the batteries are often dead, and you need to be fit enough to push the chair up the ramp when necessary. We will call you when we need you to pick up a powerchair, and then you will need to contact the donor and arrange a pickup time that is acceptable to them,. We have found that pickup times can vary widely, so you'll need to have some flexibility in your schedule. Thank you for your interest!

Our nonprofit, GoodwheelChairs.org, repairs and refurbishes donated wheelchairs and scooters to sell at a reduced, affordable price to those with little or no insurance. We're looking for someone who can repair the wheelchairs and powerchairs that are not in great shape when they are donated. This will mainly mean doing light repair work and installing batteries, though if you have the capability it could even include major overhauls. You'll be working out of our small shop and could essentially make your own hours. We can train so if you're interested but don't have experience don't pass us by. You'd be helping out those who are less mobile and providing a valued resource to Austin and our nonprofit.

As an nonprofit, many of our events are free, so there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved. Humanistic psychology asks, "What are people like when they are at their very best?" We aim to answer that by living in a way that is as creative, loving, genuine and playful as possible.
