Volunteer Hospice is looking for a special person to coordinate the front desk activities, including the lending closet. The best candidate will have a weekly shift at the front desk to become very familiar with the environment and the various kinds of situations that may happen. Responsibilities include building the monthly calendar, covering shifts as much as possible when no substitute volunteer would be available, working closely with the Volunteers Manager to maintain and update procedures for the front desk and for the lending closet, and assisting the Office Administrator and the Volunteers Manager with clerical and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate has managed offices in the past, can use software programs (MS Suite, Internet research) with minimal training, and demonstrates initiative, problem solving, ability to prioritize, and critical thinking. Training will be provided, and hospice volunteer training is available online for this person to deepen their understanding of hospice. A compassionate and caring personality is desired to welcome all visitors, mostly seniors, and handle different situations.

Put a smile on people's faces! Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is a non-profit organization in its 40th year of serving our community. We lend medical equipment and supplies to anyone in the community, not only our hospice patients. Delivery volunteers are needed in the Sequim area. You will drive our pickup truck and help deliver and pick up medical equipment to and from our patients' homes within Sequim area. If you don't want to drive our vehicle, you can be a helper, as we always send 2 people to a home to assist one another. A regular shift is one day a week, but if you prefer, you can also be a substitute and be called whenever another volunteer is ill or away. One main requirement is the ability to lift 40 lbs. You will get trained on the job by other delivery volunteers. If you will be driving, we will ask for your permission to obtain your driving record at our cost. Work from the comfort of your home, coming to our office only once a month. This position requires someone with good listening skills and an ability to convey empathy. We are looking for people willing to make phone calls to recently bereaved. These calls are placed to the survivor, the person who was the main caregiver, once a month for 13 months after the death of a person. Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County provides 24/7 nursing availability to terminally ill patients and their families. We also offer grief and bereavement support and loaning medical equipment to the entire community of Port Angeles and Sequim. All services are free of charge. Applicants will need to fill a volunteer application, pass a background check, and have an interview with the Volunteer Services Manager. Training is available. Attending the Community Education & Volunteer Training and the monthly In-services will be recommended.

This is for someone who likes to help people, assisting them with giving them medical equipment from our Lending Closet. No particular experience necessary but attention to details is required. Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County lends medical equipment not only to its hospice patients, but to anyone in the community, free of charge. We also receive donations of medical equipment and need to ensure they are clean and in good working condition before accepting them. We do not ask for any minimum commitment from our volunteers and understand vacation plans, travel plans, and the unexpected in people's lives. We provide on the job training appropriate to the position. Additionally, you can take an online Hospice Volunteer Training at no charge to familiarize yourself with hospice. We are almost entirely funded through the generosity of the community (in money, volunteer time and expertise) as we do not seek reimbursement from any government agency or insurance company.
