Mission Statement

We support and enhance the value of the Boca Raton Public Library as it serves our community.

Description

The Friends is a volunteer and fundraising group dedicated to making the library
an important part of the cultural core of Boca Raton. We make a positive difference in the community to 1) foster growth of a quality library; 2) raise funds for special equipment; 3) increase awareness of library functions; 4) encourage widespread use of the library; 5) narrow the funding gap; 6) develop programs of community interest; and 7) Share the Fun!

We support programs for children and youth for the love of learning to read; for teens and tweens special events and bookclu bs; for adults for cultural and literacy enrichment; and special library programs and events for all ages.

The Friends are committed to promoting the important role that the Public Library plays in the community. They are extremely dedicated to supporting programming that benefits the whole community. It is a great organization to be involved with!

Joy was very unpleasant. It was clear that she did not want me to volunteer, despite the fact that I am very qualified and was willing to make a long term comittment. She stated that, since they would invest 20 hours of training, they require a 2 to 3 year committment. Really? Is that what you tell all your volunteers? When I was willing to make that committment, she was very rude to me and to the volunteer that was part of our conversation. Joy does not exemplify the "friendly" aspect of this organization. Very disappointing.
