The Friends of the Boca Raton Library is seeking individuals to volunteer on Saturday and/or Sunday at the Friends Bookstore. Volunteers provide customer service through bookstore sales, cashiering, accepting book donations, sorting books and assuming other responsibilities related to the operation of the bookstore. Responsibilities involve physical activity (carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, and standing.) The bookstore is open year-round, and volunteers are expected to volunteer throughout the year. Volunteers serve one or two shifts a week (10 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 4 pm). Volunteers must be a least 21 years of age and reside year-round in south Florida. There are training sessions to provide bookstore orientation, information about book inventory, assisting customers and donors and knowledge of the point of sale computerized register.

    on Saturdays and Sundays
  • 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM EST
    on Saturdays and Sundays

We support and enhance the value of the Boca Raton Public Library as it serves our community.

Description

The Friends is a volunteer and fundraising group dedicated to making the library
an important part of the cultural core of Boca Raton. We make a positive difference in the community to 1) foster growth of a quality library; 2) raise funds for special equipment; 3) increase awareness of library functions; 4) encourage widespread use of the library; 5) narrow the funding gap; 6) develop programs of community interest; and 7) Share the Fun!

We support programs for children and youth for the love of learning to read; for teens and tweens special events and bookclu bs; for adults for cultural and literacy enrichment; and special library programs and events for all ages.
