Volunteers needed to manage book inventory at Friends of the Boca Raton Library Used Bookstore. The volunteers will

  • Research non-fiction books donated to the store for value and to identify rare books, first edition books and specialty books.
  • Feel comfortable with computer searches on Amazon and other bookseller websites.
  • Organize books by category to be shelved in the bookstore.
  • Review overstock books to be shipped to online booksellers.
  • Prepare shipments to online booksellers.

The bookstore needs individuals who can volunteers 4 hours per week. Friends bookstore volunteers are awarded honorary Friends memberships and receive a 20%discount on all purchases at the bookstore. Friends volunteers need to be year-round residents in Boca Raton and surrounding area. The Friends bookstore has about 30 volunteers who make up a friendly and welcoming team who operate the store Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. The Friends Bookstore is located in the downtown library, 400 NW 2 nd Avenue, Boca Raton.

We support and enhance the value of the Boca Raton Public Library as it serves our community.

Description

The Friends is a volunteer and fundraising group dedicated to making the library
an important part of the cultural core of Boca Raton. We make a positive difference in the community to 1) foster growth of a quality library; 2) raise funds for special equipment; 3) increase awareness of library functions; 4) encourage widespread use of the library; 5) narrow the funding gap; 6) develop programs of community interest; and 7) Share the Fun!

We support programs for children and youth for the love of learning to read; for teens and tweens special events and bookclu bs; for adults for cultural and literacy enrichment; and special library programs and events for all ages.
