A Board member can be any person 16 and older with a desire to serve the community and make a difference in the live of others. Board memebers contribute to carrying on the mission of the organization by participating in board meetings, serving on committees, attending fundraising and other events. They may also utilize professional skills or talents in program activities with clients, as well as, grant writing and other fundraising initiatives. Board members are asked to serve a two year term. Persons desiring to serve are asked to complete a board application, supply additional personal and professional informationabout themselves and a Board meeting, prior to the Board's final decision on the application. This job will require teaching adults 18 and older basic computer and customer service skills. These skills will include teaching Microsoft office basics (creating documents, saving, printing, checking grammar and spelling, etc.) It will also involve teaching about internet access for job search and online applicationd, emails and information searches. The other portion of the training will consist of basic customer service skills of business etiquette (greetig customers, answering the phone, dress, voicemail, email addresses, etc.) The class will meet 2hours a day for 4 days a week at NSEC. NSEC will provide all equipment needed for the training. The trainer will work with NSEC staff to develop a class curriculum and schedule. The hours of the class and days of the week are flexible depending on the availability of the volunteer. The volunteer will be asked to make a 6-8 week commitment to teach the class. There will be no class during major calendar holidays or inclement weather. This opportunity involves helping people with little to know computer or office skills gain skills and confidence for the workforce and life. It involves empowering others with hope through instruction and skills training.

This person would have the abillity to understand fiancial documets, reports and budgets. He/she would be familiar with quickbooks and help with financial planning for the agency. The volunteer would commit to attending board meetings once every other month and attend Board scheduled planning meetings. The volunteer must be willing to serve on the finance committee and help develop fundraising avenues for the agency.
