Assisting those in our community during a time of crisis. Our Night Watch program takes out our mobile food canteen and meets the needs of our local neighbors throughout Lee County experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. We meet at the Center of Hope located at 2400 Edison Avenue, load the prepacked bags onto the canteen, then drive to the prearranged location. We park the vehicle and distribute the food, clothing items, and provide spiritual care to those that are in need. We then return to the Center of Hope. You've seen them on TV - you know, those people that help others after tornados, or other disasters. Have you always wondered how to become one of them? It takes a little training, and then you too can be a disaster responder! Serving survivors and first responders (and others) after a disaster can be the most rewarding volunteer service you experience. The Salvation Army provides food services, crisis management, Emotional & Spiritual Care and other services after a disaster. Some disaster response is local during the day, and some response can be in neighboring states and could be a 2 week deployment. If this interests you, please respond today.
