Nebraska Community Blood Bank is looking for volunteers to help in our donor center canteens. As a canteen volunteer, you are the welcoming smile our donors see after they’ve given blood. We are looking for friendly, helpful individuals who will thank donors for their time and contribution, serve juice and cookies and observe donors for reactions and slow recovery. The canteen position does require a short 30-minute training and we ask that you commit to serving on a regular basis. Volunteer candidates must be at least 16 years old. Qualifications Friendly, patient with ever-changing pace, ability to read people well, attentive to donor needs, mobility to serve refreshments- stand for short periods of time, ability to maintain composure during donor reactions, have ability for transportation to and from donor center. Canteen volunteers must be 16 years or older. We have a unique mix of canteen volunteers, from university students looking for a quiet place to do homework, to retirees connecting with new people. Purpose Volunteer drivers are essential to delivering life-saving blood to Nebraska Community Blood Bank’s local hospital partners. Drivers pick up and deliver blood between NCBB locations or to hospitals using an NCBB vehicle. Volunteer candidates must be at least 21 years of age. Activities/Duties Safely deliver blood or supplies where assigned, using a Nebraska Community Blood Bank vehicle. Pick up and deliver blood or supplies within the required time. Document deliveries as required. Qualifications/Requirements Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance Good driving record Completion of a Drug/Alcohol Screening Completion of NCBB Volunteer Driver training Comfortable driving in urban areas Promptness Courteousness Able to lift 40 lbs Familiar with surrounding communities or comfortable using maps Available for 2-4 shifts per month (volunteers can select their shifts) Benefits Impact the lives of patients needing blood products Be part of a great team and learn more about healthcare.
