Donor Center Canteen Host

Nebraska Community Blood Bank is looking for volunteers to help in our donor center canteens. As a canteen volunteer, you are the welcoming smile our donors see after they’ve given blood. We are looking for friendly, helpful individuals who will thank donors for their time and contribution, serve juice and cookies and observe donors for reactions and slow recovery. The canteen position does require a short 30-minute training and we ask that you commit to serving on a regular basis.

Qualifications

Friendly, patient with ever-changing pace, ability to read people well, attentive to donor needs, mobility to serve refreshments- stand for short periods of time, ability to maintain composure during donor reactions, have ability for transportation to and from donor center. Canteen volunteers must be 18 years or older. We have a unique mix of canteen volunteers, from university students looking for a quiet place to do homework, to retirees connecting with new people.
