The Humane Society of McCormick County offers free TNR (trap, spay or neuter, and return) of outside cats throughout McCormick County, SC. TNR is a proven method for humanely controlling the number of outside cats. We need up to 5 volunteers to help trap cats, take them to the vet, pick them up from the vet, and release them back where they were trapped. With a team of volunteers, times and locations are flexible and we need people throughout the county. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us at info@hsmcsc.org. The Humane Society of McCormick County is a no-kill animal rescue operated 100% with volunteers. We have a cat and dog shelter in McCormick and we offer low-cost spay and neuter to cats and dogs in the County.

The HSMC offers free TNR (which stands for Trap/Neuter or Spay/and Return) for outside, unowned cats throughout the County. The goal is to reduce the number of unwanted and unplanned litters. When cat colonies are fixed, we set up feeding stations and feed them everyday. By fixing as many cats as possible and then maintaining a feeding station, we can keep a watch on their health and look for new additions to the colony that will need to be fixed. We need community volunteers to help feed the cats. Food donations are also welcome.

Be a Pawmate! We need someone on every shift to play and love on the dogs and someone to play and love on the cats. If you can throw a ball or hold a toy wand, we want you! We have morning shifts and late afternoon shifts. With a commitment of 1-1/2 hours a week, you could improve the lives of the dogs and cats in the shelter AND you can help them get adopted sooner. The Humane Society of McCormick County needs foster homes that will include a foster pet in their home. Animals that are fostered are better prepared when adopted and are often adopted sooner. It also allows us to help more animals because of our limited space. We will help new fosters with questions that they might have while they are caring for their new foster pet. We provide medical assistance, food, crates and any other needs for you to care for the pet while you are fostering. We have a need for foster homes for puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats. An added bonus is the love you receive from an animal while they are living with you and knowing that you made their transition into a home easier for them.
