The Earth and Space Expedition Center (Formerly Challenger Space Center of Arizona) is a non-profit, uniquely designed museum focusing on Earth and Space Science and History, and is looking to expand their group of committed volunteers! Guest services attendants would be responsible for managing daily gift shop operations and act as the face of Center upon the arrival of visitors. This entails greeting guests, accepting payment and answering general questions about the building and programs. We ask volunteers to commit to at least three time slots each month, preferably one to two time slots each week. The options are Friday - Saturday AM shift (9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) or PM shift (12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The times may vary slightly depending on daily occurrences. This opportunity is wonderful to volunteer solo or with a friend or spouse. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

RETIRED EARTHLINGS NEEDED! Even if you are not retired, but searching for a place to volunteer, we can utilize your skills, experience and talents! (Formerly the Challenger Space Center), the Earth and Space Expedition Center is a non-profit, unique space science education complex and is expanding our committed group of volunteers! In addition to being a cross-curricular learning environment, the building also serves as an exhibit-based museum open to the general public for flight and space history, as well as protecting the planet that we inhabit. We also have exhibitions on loan from ASU as well as many private collectors. We are in need of volunteers for the following areas: Gift Shop / Admission Admission entails greeting guests, accepting payment and answering general questions about museum events and activities. Gift Shop volunteers assist guests in selecting and purchasing items to remember his / her visit. Tour Guides Our tour groups vary based on the public traffic each hour of the day so we are looking for individuals that are flexible to the size and ages of the group. We do not require any special background or knowledge as training is provided on site. We are looking for individuals that would like to share their love of science, space, learning or small group public speaking with guests that visit the center. Researcher Research and share information about new things in Earth and Space that would be of interest to you or our community. The opportunities for communicating this information are varied! Model Expert Help restore and appropriately display detailed models of space-related items. Learn more about the models and communicate that with other volunteers, staff, and guests. Tour guides would be responsible for providing a welcome, hospitable environment and a rewarding learning experience to museum visitors through guided tours. We do not require any special background or knowledge, as training is provided by our staff. We are looking for individuals that want to share their love of science, space and the importance of education with their community. We ask volunteers to commit to at least two time slots each month, preferably three to four time slots each month. We currently offer AM shift (10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) or PM shift (12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.). The times may vary slightly depending on daily occurrences. We are currently open on Saturdays only, but we are planning expand these days to Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays each week. You will have the unique opportunity to learn about and share with others topics such as space exploration history, deep space, astronomy, the solar system, meteors, global weather patterns, the International Space Station, and the Space Shuttle Program. You will also have the opportunity to research more and share your knowledge with staff for possible inclusion in future programs. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
