Galaxy Gift Shop

The Earth and Space Expedition Center (Formerly Challenger Space Center of Arizona) is a non-profit, uniquely designed museum focusing on Earth and Space Science and History, and is looking to expand their group of committed volunteers!

Guest services attendants would be responsible for managing daily gift shop operations and act as the face of Center upon the arrival of visitors. This entails greeting guests, accepting payment and answering general questions about the building and programs.

We ask volunteers to commit to at least three time slots each month, preferably one to two time slots each week. The options are Friday - Saturday AM shift (9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) or PM shift (12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The times may vary slightly depending on daily occurrences.

This opportunity is wonderful to volunteer solo or with a friend or spouse. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Earth and Space Expedition Center is to inspire, excite and educate people of all ages about the mysteries and wonders of space, science and the universe in which we live...

Description

The Earth and Space Expedition Center provides an exciting space-based learning environment where schoolchildren, families, senior citizens, corporate teams and others experience a full dome planetarium show, explore the universe with a Deep Space Gallery than brings the images from high-powered telescopes within sight.

Activities led by the Earth and Space Expedition Flight Directors, seamlessly integrate the concepts of teamwork, communications and leadership, along with math, science and technology skills, to help participants work together to overcome obstacles and emergencies.

Equal to educational workshops and other activities designed for students and their teachers, the Earth and Space Expedition Center is a community resource center -- also features numerous public programming opportunities including stargazing, an indoor planetarium, space camps, lectures, telescope classes, space storytelling and more, to enable families, youth groups, Scout troops, community members, corporate teams, senior citizens and others to experience the facility and all that it has to offer.
