We are seeking caring, driven companionship volunteers for Hospice patients in the Greater Cleveland area-- specifically Geauga & Eastern Lake Counties. A companionship volunteer provides comfort and emotional support to patients by making visits to them at their place of residence. This could include, listening, reading, doing activities or simply being present. Hospice is a special kind of caring. Hospice care is patient and family centered, and seeks to provide support and comfort to those facing a life limiting illness. Volunteers play a large role in this effort by sharing their skills and interests in a manner that enriches the quality of life for those they serve. Nationally, over 100,000 people serve as hospice volunteers and give millions of hours of their time to serve terminally ill patients and their families. We follow all current CDC guidelines related to COVID-19, and provide volunteers with all necessary and appropriate PPE during visits.

Perfect opportunity for students pursuing a career in healthcare who are seeking unpaid shadowing/volunteer hours for their programs of study. This would be an opportunity to shadow and experience the day-to-day happenings of RNs/LPNs, Social Workers, Chaplain, both in home settings and long-term care facilities, gaining experience as well as earning volunteer hours. More about Hospice care and our organization: At Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice, we provide the expertise and compassion that helps adults and their families live as fully as possible during an advanced illness. This is accomplished by building a team around the patient and family that includes clinical professionals, trained caregivers and volunteers. The team focuses on the physical symptoms, as well as emotional and spiritual concerns for the patient and their family members. We enable our patients to make decisions about how they want to live out their remaining days and create memories for those who remain behind. We encourage patients to share their goals for life with us. In turn, we work with them to make those goals a reality. Our hospice team works together to provide counseling, education and support, focusing on giving the patient control in determining their physical, mental and spiritual needs. Then the hospice team, along with the patient and family members, develop a holistic care plan that includes pain management, symptom control and bereavement support.
