Assists with pet therapy visits to hospital units by ensuring compliance with protocol for patient unit visits (in coordination with Pet Therapy Handler Volunteer Unit Coordinator) including: Collaborates with nursing team to determines list of appropriate patients to visit and receives any assignment briefings necessary to ensure a successful visit. Secures written consent for the pet visit prior to interaction with the dog team. Utilizes purposeful rounding guidelines and appropriate patient identification guidelines. Complies with infection prevention protocols before, during and after each visit. Must enjoy dogs and able to work in conjunction with handlers and pets to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both the patient and the pet. These volunteers must have excellent customer service skills, be friendly, flexible and have a desire to help people. Role and Goal: Be a friendly face to incoming patients and family. Guide patients to appointments and guests to patient rooms. Requires mobility and ability to push a wheelchair if over 18. Teens cannot transport patients. Shifts/Locations: Memorial Campus, Four hour shifts 7am to 8 pm. For teens 4p-6p during the week and 9am to 1pm or 12/1pm to 4/5pm.
