Assists with pet therapy visits to hospital units by ensuring compliance with protocol for patient unit visits (in coordination with Pet Therapy Handler Volunteer Unit Coordinator) including:

  1. Collaborates with nursing team to determines list of appropriate patients to visit and receives any assignment briefings necessary to ensure a successful visit.
  2. Secures written consent for the pet visit prior to interaction with the dog team.
  3. Utilizes purposeful rounding guidelines and appropriate patient identification guidelines.
  4. Complies with infection prevention protocols before, during and after each visit.
Must enjoy dogs and able to work in conjunction with handlers and pets to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both the patient and the pet.

  • 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM
    1-2 hours per unit visit.
