If you prefer to work behind the scenes, OBI has the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! Volunteers are needed to help label empty blood bags for mobile blood drives. We have a lively group of volunteers who meet once a week to complete the blood bag numbering project. Blood donations cannot happen without the bags; therefore, this is a critical volunteer role which allows OBI’s lifesaving mission to be successful. Task: Label empty blood bags according to Donor Services' Standard Operating Procedure for use system-wide; properly record and document donor identification numbers on a numbering bag log. Requirements: Ability to sit for a minimum of 4 hours in a comfortable setting, good vision and finger dexterity, professional appearance. Yours will be the face of our important mission. Thank You Crew members are the first point of contact to our blood donors at donor centers and mobile drives. The Thank You Crew provides WOW customer service and consistently deliver OBI's servie promise to blood donors. Crew members also monitor the scheduling and flow of donors along with donor safety in the canteen while supporting the collections staff. Tasks: Oversee the donor sign-in sheet, maintain the donor schedule, provide donor educational materials, observe donors in the refreshment area for reactions, and set-up and distribute OBI promotions including t-shirts, drawings, etc. Requires: Great people with excellent communication skills; friendliness; attentiveness; dependability; promptness; mobility. Thank you crew volunteers are asked to commit to one 4 hour shift every other week and assist with special events as they arise.

Donor Calling Crew

Tasks: Call OBI life-saving blood donors and deliver messages such as blood drive date, location, time, and blood donor benefits to help us achieve our critical mission in the community. Requires: Confindent phone voice, customer service skills, friendly, persuasive personality. Calls can be made on a weekly or monthly basis iin a donor center/office or even from the comfort of your home. Crew members make reminder calls to eligible donors inviting them to attend community blood drives and events on a weekly basis. Volunteers also thank donors for their past life-saving donations. Confirmed blood donors are communicated to Donor Recruitment staff so they may plan blood drives and events accordingly. Volunteer hours may be customized to your availability!
