Volunteer Coordinator Needed! Milwaukee Pets Alive isn’t just another rescue. We are here to shape rescue. Join us as our Volunteer Coordinator - a part of our Leadership Team! There’s never been a better time to volunteer with us if you are looking to be a part of something bigger than yourself - help us as we work towards building a sanctuary so we can serve even MORE special animals and make SE WI No Kill! This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality! Our Volunteer Coordinator is a leadership role and the individual will be an ambassador of the MPA organization, creating a community - both internal and external - that emphasizes the important work we do for the special animals we serve and exemplifies how each volunteer’s active involvement helps us achieve more for more precious lives. Our leadership volunteers each manage one piece of the organization. Our leadership volunteers together (the Leadership Team) orchestrate an amazing whole doing great works in our community...and our world! The Volunteer Coordinator must enjoy working with and speaking to people as well as cultivating and developing the talents of others! We are going to need so many extraordinary volunteers to build a sanctuary - the Volunteer Coordinator is one who will also play a part in bringing in so many more! As an all-volunteer run organization, volunteers are vital to the work we do. As aforementioned, each and every one is a teammate! The Volunteer Coordinator plays an important role in ushering great people into our organization who share the same vision, philosophy, and values whom together with we can accomplish great things for the animals who have no one else without us! The Volunteer Coordinator will: Curate and build a strong team of individuals to accomplish the important work we are doing in SE WI! Process volunteer applications and engage qualified candidates in a timely manner to get them actively working towards furthering the organizational mission. Conduct phone interviews after processing volunteer applications to determine if volunteer candidate can fulfill the needs of our organization and the role they are interested in, as well as share information about our organization to ensure we are a match for the potential volunteer. Conduct Volunteer Orientations. Create sign-up genius’ for each MPA volunteer need and distribute to master list of volunteers. Monitor each sign-up genius to ensure all pleas for volunteer help needed are filled with internal volunteers at least 1 week prior to the need. Communicate with the entire volunteer base regularly to answer questions and make sure all volunteers are staying actively engaged, participating regularly, and appreciated for their hard work! Will manage Volunteer Match account and postings and update listings as needed. Participate in once-a-month Leadership Team meetings. Volunteer tasks are done around the volunteer’s own schedule - when it’s convenient for you - morning, day, or night - though some tasks will involve the occasional coordination of your schedule with the schedule of others (such as for meetings, phone calls, etc.). We are looking for one person to fill this role. The right individual will strongly believe in our mission, vision, and core values and have a sincere interest in elevating our organization, extending our reach, and growing with us (so commitment and dedication are important). We are an entirely volunteer-run rescue. Everything you see was created and accomplished by a volunteer! We have no employees, so all volunteers should be self-motivated, be a self-starter with initiative, drive, ambition, and are able to work independently. One of the general qualities we look for in any teammate in this rescue are those who are "Go-Givers" - people who want to make a difference in the world and for others and know the greatest impact we make is often not the work we are paid to do in our 9-5, but that what we choose to do because in our hearts, we want to make others' time on this planet easier and better! How our organization is structured requires that all volunteers be able to accept direction to produce cohesive messaging, vision, results, and practices consistent with that of the overall organization as a whole and then take that direction to lead in the execution of their piece of the organization. Individual must be able to follow through on their commitments. The Volunteer Coordinator should also be outgoing, personable, enthusiastic, and love people as coordinating volunteers is all about engaging with people! MPA is looking for a volunteer to fill this role who recognizes the importance of working on behalf of the special animals we serve and will work hard for them as they are counting on us to save their lives! Lead Community Outreach Volunteer needed! Milwaukee Pets Alive isn’t just another rescue. We are here to shape rescue. Join us as our Lead Community Outreach Volunteer (leader of our MPA Community Outreach Team) - a part of our Leadership Team! There’s never been a better time to volunteer with us if you are looking to be a part of something bigger than yourself - help us as we work towards building a sanctuary so we can serve even MORE special animals and make SE WI No Kill! This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality! Our vision is for Southeast Wisconsin to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals. While our organization is proudly No Kill (and always has been since day 1), our community (and many of the "shelters" in it) is NOT No Kill. We can’t achieve our vision until the community as a whole becomes No Kill. TheLead Community Outreach Volunteer is going to play an integral role towards this end as 3 components of the No Kill Equation (TNR support, Low/no cost spay/neuter, and Pet Retention [education] - which are also components of our organization’s mission) will be pillars in the work they do. The Lead Community Outreach Volunteer is a leadership role and the individual will be an ambassador of the MPA organization, creating a community - both internal and external - that emphasizes the important work we do for the special animals we serve and exemplifies how each volunteer’s active involvement helps us achieve more for more precious lives. The Lead Community Outreach Volunteer must be outgoing, ambitious, personable, enjoy cultivating and building relationships, and be able to dream big to create and manage programming that currently does not exist in our community but is necessary to save countless lives and reach No Kill status in our region. The Lead Community Outreach Volunteer should also be enthusiastic and excited to inspire and motivate both the Community Outreach Coordinator volunteers they are managing, as well as the community members, businesses, and leaders we will be partnering with to achieve our work and those we will serve with it. The Lead Community Outreach Volunteer will: In collaboration with the Leadership Team, develop a community outreach plan to include programing that will work towards the goal of a No Kill community and that meets organizational goals and furthers the mission of the organization. Oversee MPA’s "The Lily Project." Oversee MPA’s TNR Support Program. Initiate low/no cost spay/neuter initiatives and events in the community where they are most needed. In line with MPA’s efforts to help all animals we share our world with (not just those in our rescue) as well as for pet retention to keep animals with their families where they belong (a key component of the No Kill Equation), organize educational opportunities on important and relevant topics such as feline and canine nutrition, behavior, etc. Support, guide, lead, manage, and assist MPA Community Outreach Coordinator volunteers in executing the programs aforementioned and make them robust and impactful! Work with Marketing Team in marketing community outreach and educational events. Take stock of voids in the community preventing it from reaching No Kill status and develop programs to fill the gaps. Communicate with all members of the MPA Community Outreach Team regularly to answer questions and make sure all are actively engaged and regularly working on components of the community outreach plan, and that they are appreciated for their hard work! Participate in once-a-month Leadership Team meetings. Will coordinate any additional meetings for Community Outreach Team or other volunteers as needed for proper planning and execution of components of the community outreach plan they are working on or for collaboration on projects. Be creative and innovative! Dream big! Create other programs to help the people and animals of our community in line with realizing our vision of being one of the safest communities in the U.S. for companion animals. Volunteer tasks are done around the volunteer’s own schedule - when it’s convenient for you - morning, day, or night - though some tasks will involve the occasional coordination of your schedule with the schedule of others (such as for meetings, phone calls, etc.). Prior community outreach experience not required - but a strong drive, passion, and desire to make SE WI renowned for being a safe place for animals, where they all have a RIGHT to life - regardless of age, ability, needs, health, socialization, etc. IS! Prior leadership experience preferred, though not required if you have the other qualities previously mentioned. We are looking for one person to fill this role. The right individual will strongly believe in our mission, vision, and core values and have a sincere interest in elevating our organization, extending our reach, and growing with us (so commitment and dedication are important). Vegan Bake Sale/Talk Table Coordinators (Marketing Team) Needed! Milwaukee Pets Alive isn’t just another rescue. We are here to shape rescue. Join us as a Vegan Bake Sale/Talk Table Coordinator (part of our Marketing Team)! There’s never been a better time to volunteer with us if you are looking to be a part of something bigger than yourself - help us as we work towards building a sanctuary so we can serve even MORE special animals and make SE WI No Kill! This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality! Community. It’s one of our core values. A pillar of Milwaukee Pets Alive. Social media is nice, but there has to be more than that. It may be how we learn about things, but it’s not where we make true connections. And many don’t use, or are ceasing to use social media. We miss out on reaching those people with our important work if everything is online. We’ve got to get face to face with people. That’s where we can do more, and do better for our animals and the people that love them. We have a wealth and wide breadth of knowledge to share - and want to help others with it. We’ve been rescuing animals with special needs and considerations for almost a decade - animals that many turn from, but we run to. As such, we have experiences others don’t have and want to share what we’ve learned to help people with challenges they may be experiencing. We also believe in the adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Education, knowledge, and wisdom shared can go a long ways towards that end. Face to face is also the way others can help us do better for those animals who have no one - the abused, neglected, and abandoned. The injured, the ill, the differently-abled. The shy, the scared, the under-socialized. And the un-socialized who should never enter the shelter system, but when they all-too-often do, today, they meet certain death. They would have no one...if they didn’t have MPA. We are doing what no one else does in our community (and will have the capability to do so much more with a sanctuary!) - filling a very important void. We can help people help the animals that they love, and they can help us and the animals we serve when they learn about the important work we’re doing in our community. This starts with building relationships. All relationships start with a conversation. We need a lot more active supporters, and there are so many people that need guidance with their own animals and those they share this world with (and helping people help their animals keeps animals out of the shelter system - it’s part of the No Kill Equation)! We want to regularly meet and talk with more of our community members! It can be hard to ask questions...and some feel shy just walking up to a table to seek information or see what’s going on, so we have the perfect solution: a combination vegan bake sale/talk table! It’s our non-melty version of an ice cream social. Our current supporters LOVE baking for bake sales, and people can’t resist checking out the variety of homemade goodies - the perfect ice-breaker to create new supporters, and hear people’s stories opening a door to how we might be able to help them help their animals, too! It's baking with a purpose, y'all! Why a "vegan" bake sale? Because we care about all the animals (and people) we share this world with. We serve a population of carnivorous animals (we rescue mostly cats and dogs), but humans are not carnivores (take a look at your teeth, and then compare them to your cat or dog). Humans do not need to eat animals or their by-products. In talking to and getting to know more people in our community, we want to take the opportunity to introduce them to the deliciousness, and kindess, of eating vegan - and there is no more tasty introduction than vegan sweet treats! *Please note, while the baked goods we will be selling at these sales will be vegan, our Bake Sale Coordinators do not need to be vegan. But once you are able to see, and taste, how awesome vegan goodies are (and that anything can be made vegan) don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting to go vegan yourself! We’re looking for SIX Vegan Bake Sale/Talk Table Coordinators as part of our Marketing Team (please note, YOU do not need to be vegan. The goodies we sell will be vegan. But you just may want to become plant-based after heading up a bake-sale where all the deliciousness is made from plants!). Each Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating 2 Vegan Bake Sale/Talk Tables with an interested host business every year (so when we are fully staffed with 6 Coordinators, we will be able to hold a Vegan Bake Sale/Talk Table every month!), coordinating enough volunteers to bake for their sales and the drop off of their baked goods, setup, staffing the sale (taking payment for baked goods sold, greeting people, talking about the organization, etc.), and tear down of the sale. We’ll have experienced animal care volunteers present to answer questions from people that stop by the sale. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn from the best on animal care, behavior, and advocacy. We were so excited about all the outreach we can accomplish in this role that we forgot to mention that these bake sales will also generate much needed donations to care for the special population of animals we serve as well as help fund the sanctuary we are working to build! The coordination tasks are done around the volunteer’s own schedule - when it’s convenient for you - morning, day, or night - though some tasks will involve the occasional coordination of your schedule with the schedule of others (such as meetings or phone calls) and then you must be available to staff the Vegan Bake Sale/Talk Table you coordinate and help your fellow Coordinators staff theirs whenever possible. The right individuals will strongly believe in our mission, vision, and core values and have a sincere interest in elevating our organization, extending our reach, and growing with us (so commitment and dedication are important). This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality! Fundraising and development is going to be critical in building and maintaining this center to help so many lives! Please give your skills and talents to help in this effort! The Lead Fundraising & Development Volunteer is a leadership role and the individual will be an ambassador of the MPA organization, creating a community - both internal and external - that emphasizes the important work we do for the special animals we serve and exemplifies how each volunteer’s active involvement helps us achieve more for more precious lives. Our leadership volunteers each lead and manage one piece of the organization. The funds necessary to care for the special needs and considerations animals we rescue are significant in our current model of rescue. With facilities, it will be exponentially so. Fundraising and development are crucial to the execution of the life-saving work we do and want to do with the sanctuary! The Lead Fundraising & Development Volunteer will: In collaboration with the Leadership Team, develop an annual fundraising and development plan to meet organizational goals and further the mission of the organization. Cultivate and form relationships with new and potential donors (both individual and corporate) who recognize the importance of the work we are doing for animals in Southeast WI. Nurture relationships with long-term donors and show our appreciation. Explore and secure more online giving options. Build our Recurring/Monthly giving program. Connect with businesses to encourage workplace giving among employees. Develop estate planning options. Encourage donors to look into employer matching to double their impact. Research foundations that have applicable funds to our work. Be a part of the capital campaign for the sanctuary. Send out appeal letters to donors. Distribute acknowledgement letters and tax receipts to donors. Oversee donation box program. Oversee our inkind donations program. Manage Fundraising & Development Team volunteers who are coordinating various fundraisers and development activities. Communicate with all members of the MPA Fundraising & Development Team regularly to answer questions and make sure all are actively engaged and regularly working on components of the fundraising and development plan, and that they are appreciated for their hard work! Participate in once-monthly Leadership Team meetings. Will coordinate any additional meetings for Fundraising & Development Team or other volunteers as needed for proper planning and execution of components of the fundraising & development plan they are working on or for collaboration on projects. Research different community fundraising opportunities. Oversee grant writers. Marketing is going to be hugely important in reaching the people and resources we need to create this center to help so many lives! The Lead Marketing Volunteer is a leadership role and the individual will be an ambassador of the MPA organization, creating a community - both internal and external - that emphasizes the important work we do for the special animals we serve and exemplifies how each volunteer’s active involvement helps us achieve more for more precious lives. Our leadership volunteers each manage one piece of the organization. Our leadership volunteers together (the Leadership Team) orchestrate an amazing whole doing great works in our community...and our world! The Marketing Lead must enjoy working with and speaking to people as well as cultivating and developing the talents of others! Marketing gets animals home (and will help us get in front of the people we need to build this sanctuary!) and is a pillar to the success of our work. The Lead Marketing Volunteer will: In collaboration with the Leadership Team, develop an annual marketing plan to meet organizational goals and further the mission of the organization. Support, guide, lead, oversee, and assist MPA Marketing Team members in executing a variety of marketing techniques in various mediums to carry out the annual marketing plan. Focus on traditional marketing concepts to increase our reach to individuals who are not online/not online often. In collaboration with the Leadership Team, will work on preparing marketing materials and copy consistent with overall organizational messaging and branding. Apply targeted marketing strategies to help match animals with special needs with individuals with the right people and environment to meet those needs. Lead an increased physical presence in the community through more community outreach/marketing events. Create and direct marketing materials to help our all-volunteer run organization find other volunteers who are passionate about the work we are doing and want to be a part of it! Work with Graphic Design volunteers in creating the visuals for marketing materials, merchandise designs, etc. Work with the Special Events Coordinators in the promotion of events. Manage Marketing Team volunteers coordinating various marketing activities. Communicate with all members of the MPA Marketing Team regularly to answer questions and make sure all are actively engaged and regularly working on components of the marketing plan, and that they are appreciated for their hard work! Participate in once-a-month Leadership Team meetings. Will coordinate any additional meetings for Marketing Team or other volunteers as needed for proper planning and execution of components of the marketing plan they are working on or for collaboration on projects. Possess strong attention to detail. Be creative and innovative! Volunteer tasks are done around the volunteer’s own schedule - when it’s convenient for you - morning, day, or night - though some tasks will involve the occasional coordination of your schedule with the schedule of others (such as for meetings, phone calls, etc.). Marketing experience preferred though not required if candidate possesses other leadership experience and has a strong drive/passion for marketing. We are looking for one person to fill this role. The right individual will strongly believe in our mission, vision, and core values and have a sincere interest in elevating our organization, extending our reach, and growing with us (so commitment and dedication are important). We are an entirely volunteer-run rescue. Everything you see was created and accomplished by a volunteer! We have no employees, so all volunteers should be self-motivated, be a self-starter with initiative, drive, ambition, and are able to work independently. One of the general qualities we are looking for in any teammate in this rescue are those who are "Go-givers" - people who want to make a difference in the world and for others and know the greatest impact we make is usually not the work we are paid to do in our 9-5, but that what we choose to do because in our hearts, we want to make others’ time on this planet easier and better! How our organization is structured requires that all volunteers be able to accept direction to produce cohesive messaging, vision, results, and practices consistent with that of the overall organization as a whole and then take that direction to lead in the execution of their piece of the organization. Individual must be able to follow through on their commitments. The Lead Marketing Volunteer should also be outgoing, personable, enthusiastic, and love people as marketing is all about engaging with people! MPA is looking for a volunteer to fill this role who recognizes the importance of working on behalf of the special animals we serve and will work hard for them as they are counting on us to save their lives! When every person does a little to make a difference, together, we make change. Reaching as many people as possible to let them know we’re here and the important work we are doing for an important population of animals that have no one else but us is directly proportionate to what we can achieve, and the number of animals we can save. Milwaukee Pets Alive (MPA) is an all-volunteer, No Kill, 501c3 special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization. These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources - all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important. Our mission, through our work aforementioned and through comprehensive programs and resources to educate and help community members help the animals in their own lives (thereby preventing more animals from entering the shelter system), is to end the killing of homeless companion animals in southeast WI. The population we rescue comprises those that continue to die in the greatest numbers in our community. Our vision is for southeast WI to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals.
