Through the Meals-on Wheels (MOW) program, volunteers deliver meals and so much more to homebound individuals. Drivers and Runners are both needed. You will be assisting MOW participants in meeting 1/3 of their daily nutritional needs while providing a safety check on their wellbeing. You could be the vital source of human connection and socialization which will enable them to continue to live independently in their home. Shifts are typically 3 to 3 1/2 hours and are available at all three Davis County Senior Centers (located in Clearfield, Kaysville and Bountiful). Volunteers receive training as well as meals. All volunteers must pass a background check (expense covered by Davis County). Individuals aged 55 or better are also welcome to participate in the Davis County Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Benefits include mileage reimbursement, supplemental insurance coverage, as well as volunteer recognition(s) throughout the year. Volunteer as a dog walker with Davis County Animal Services, providing exercise, fresh air, and human companionship. This helps keep the animals healthy and socialized, which in turn increases their adoptability. What a fantastic way to serve the animals while you get in your daily exercise! Volunteers may also participate in Pet Adoption events which are held periodically throughout the county. Volunteer hours and days are very flexible. Training is provided. This volunteer opportunity is offered through Davis Co. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)and is for people age 55 or better. RSVP volunteers feed both the body and spirit of Davis Co. seniors as they serve daily lunches along with smiles and welcoming words. Although meals are prepared off-site, volunteers assist with dining room preparation, serving, and clean-up of lunch at three Senior Activity Centers in Davis County. (Clearfield, Kaysville or Bountiful) Days are flexible, Monday-Friday. Volunteers can select which Activity Center and which days they would like to help. You choose whether to serve one or more days per week. Hours range from 10:00-1:00. Due to the required food handlers permit and background check, this position is not available as a one-time or group service project. Davis Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is for people age 55 or better. Benefits of volunteering through RSVP include mileage reimbursement for travel between home and the Senior Center as well as supplemental insurance coverage while serving. Join Davis Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in our "Scarves for Troops" Program by knitting or crocheting scarves and hats to send to our deployed troops. Help make their winter a little warmer and their holidays a little brighter by reminding our troops they are loved and their sacrifices are appreciated. These made-with-love gifts will be treasured by all who receive them! Guidelines as well as recommendations for size and colors will be provided. Please contact Davis RSVP at 801-525-5052 to register. This is a wonderful opportunity for church groups or knitting & crochet clubs to complete a meaningful service project. It's also ideal for seniors, disabled or home bound people to be able to participate from home. People age 55 or better are encouraged to enroll with RSVP when registering.
