BATTLE BUDDY to help VETERANS We have many patients who are veterans and we would like to have volunteers who are veterans visit them. You would be assigned a veteran to visit. Weekly visits of about 1 hour or less is typically what is needed to establish a connection and provide support to your battle buddy. Veterans will often not open up to civilians (even family members) but they will to other veterans. Battle Buddies provide our veterans with a much needed friend, someone who understands. In addition, we provide specialized Ceremonies to our veterans as a way of honoring the service they gave to our country. Battle Buddies will gather information on the veterans service so we can read it at the ceremony. We also have special lapel pins and certificates for the veteran which the volunteer can present. We are currently providing ceremonies in person. This is a great way to honor veterans. Veterans often need other Veterans to talk with, they understand the language and provide a "safe place" to discuss issues. Please consider sharing your time with our veterans. They served us, let's serve them. Please contact Keya Early at Capital Caring, Kearly@capitalcaring.org or 703-531-6243 Thank you! Mission Statement: Provide Patients and Their Families with Advanced Illness Care of the Highest Quality.

We are seeking volunteers to help call our patients & their family members once a week to ensure a "tuck in" before each weekend. Volunteers will be provided training and a guide to questions needed to be asked. The purpose of these calls is to ensure patients have all the supplies needed for the weekend, to ensure they are comfortable, to give some TLC to the caregiver who is usually a family member and to help with the overall excellent service provided by Capital Caring Hospice program. Volunteers must be 18 years old and able to come to make weekly calls to patients and families. A commitment of about 2 - 3 hours per week is needed. Volunteers will work virtually to make the calls. Come and join a fun crew of professionals! We truly love our patients and have a wonderful time providing top care. Volunteers will have the opportunity for a vast array of online training and zoom calls with the healthcare team. Kearly@capitalcaring.org

Crafters needed to make small size "red, white, blue" blankets for Veterans. Our veterans served our country and we are in need of these small lap robes to provide to hospice patients who are veterans. The blankets can be quilted, knitted or crocheted in patriotic RED, WHITE and BLUE patterns/colors. We use these blankets to give veterans to show a small token of appreciation for their service. This is a great project for a Scout Troop or a Crafting Club and for the crafters who would like to show appreciation to our brave veterans. Please consider sharing your talents with our veterans. Feel free to email Keya Early, Kearly@capitalcaring.org if you would like further information or maybe some visual samples to get ideas of items. Any and all help is needed. These items truly make a huge difference to our veterans. Feel free to call Keya at 703-531-6243 for further info. Thank you for considering to help VETERANS
