The rescue has a number of electrical circuit and connectivity jobs for the barns. Initial work will be to define the scope of the jobs and cost of equipment/components needed. The work would suit a suitably qualified electrician, current or retired, who is willing to give their services free (gas will be paid for). Times and hours would be up to the individual, but some of the rewiring is critical and completion before the summer would be helpful.. This would qualify as a community service commitment as the rescue is a 501c3 approved organization, recognized for excellence by Homes for Horses, GFAS, Guidestar, and Equus. Familiarity with horses is not essential, as orientation will be given on working around horses.

You know the old saying "The family that....................stay together"! Well we have another one for you: The family that mucks out and looks after rescued horses together, stay together. Catchy huh? We would love you to come join us, and our other family volunteers, in helping with the care and welfare of our rescue horses. And it's not a one sided activity. Children of all ages will benefit from the interaction and personal development. Our horses love their human carers, and provide a stress free environment away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Come and try us out, and you won't be disappointed. We respect the requirements for Covid safety by letting you work within your bubble and maintaining social distancing and masks (where necessary) in the proximity of others. Many of our volunteers wear masks anyway because of the hay and dust, which with high allergen levels can cause problems. Horse and farm work experience is appreciated but not essential. We will provide all the necessary training. However if you have any of the skills listed we would be delighted.

Working with horses is recognized as being a calming and enjoyable experience, especially in this complex and busy world. The White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue offers an opportunity to work with these wonderful animals as a volunteer to help with their care and welfare (no experience needed). So, want to help make a horse's day? Not afraid to get covered in horse hair and slobber (and if you are, we can soon change that)? You can work some of that Winter weight off, and find out the real meaning of horse care. We provide hands-on ground handling experience with horses of all ages, as well as really old, blind and medical cases. If you already have riding or training experience, we can use you too. So, if you don't mind hard work, would like some peace and serenity, and want to give some love, come and love-on our horses. White Bird does insist on volunteers following health and safety guidelines with regard to washing/sanitizing hands, and masks are recommended when inside due to dust and hay.

The White Bird Appaloosas Horse Rescue relies on volunteers of all ages and capabilities to help with the care and welfare of the horses. We are particularly interested in encouraging retirees, veterans or anyone who used to have horses, or any senior with time on their hands to come and help with a variety of jobs. We can accommodate most ages and disabilities, having had enthusiastic and hardworking elders, and blind and mobility restricted volunteers. Experience with horses is not necessary as we will give training as required. Come on out and share the love with our ex horses-in-need. White does ask volunteers to conform to the CDC Covid-19 requirements, with regard to washing/sanitizing hands, social distancing. and masks in confined spaces are recommended because of dust and hay. Remember: "use it, or lose it"!
