The White Bird Appaloosas Horse Rescue relies on volunteers of all ages and capabilities to help with the care and welfare of the horses. We are particularly interested in encouraging retirees, boomers who used to have horses, or any senior with time on their hands to come and help with a vartiety of jobs. We can accommodate most ages and disabilities, having had enthusiastic and hardworking elders, and blind and mobility restricted volunteers. Experience with horses is not necessary as we will give training as required. Come on out and share the love with our ex horses-in-need. White does ask volunteers to conform to the CDC Covid-19 requirements, with regard to washing/sanitizing hands, social distancing. ans masks in confined spaces.

Horses that cannot or should not be adopted are given permanent sanctuary so that they may live the remainder of their lives in safety and dignity. Horses in the care of White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue are housed at the main intake farm at Burkeville, VA as well as affiliate foster farms. Here, they are loved and cared for by unpaid volunteers who generously donate their time and talent.
