Working with horses is recognized as being a calming and enjoyable experience, especially in this complex and busy world. The White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue offers an opportunity to work with these wonderful animals as a volunteer to help with their care and welfare (no experience needed). So, want to help make a horse's day? Not afraid to get covered in horse hair and slobber (and if you are, we can soon change that)? You can work some of that Winter weight off, and find out the real meaning of horse care. We provide hands-on ground handling experience with horses of all ages, as well as really old, blind and medical cases. If you already have riding or training experience, we can use you too. So, if you don't mind hard work, would like some peace and serenity, and want to give some love, come and love-on our horses. White Bird does insist on volunteers following health and safety guidelines with regard to washing/sanitizing hands, and masks are recommended when inside due to dust and hay.

Description
The White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue is a Virginia 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused, neglected and at-risk Appaloosa and other horses, especially those in urgent need and in danger of slaughter. We provide shelter, care, medical and rehabilitation services to horses in need, and whenever possible, we place them in loving and permanent homes. Horses that cannot or should not be adopted are given permanent sanctuary so that they may live the remainder of their lives in safety and dignity. Horses in the care of White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue are housed at the main intake farm at Burkeville, VA as well as affiliate foster farms. Here, they are loved and cared for by unpaid volunteers who generously donate their time and talent.
