Garden Volunteer: assist one to three days a week with weeding/watering( 3-4 hours/day) during your preferred schedule and assist with other larger gardening or landscape maintenance projects on an occasional basis (2-3 times per year). Do you enjoy inspiring curiousity in young children ages 3-8? We are looking volunteers to assist education staff with our outdoor preK - 3rd grade science education programs. Assist with leading groups of young children to wonder and learn about dinosaurs, rocks and minerals! Audience: Ages 3-8 with their group leader in groups typically 10-20 at a time. Skills & Requirements: Ages 18+. Experience with young children, teaching or public speaking experience preferred but not necessary. In-depth training is provided. We are also looking for Spanish-speakers to help us translate and deliver our programs in Spanish! Schedule & Hours: Onsite program assistance 6+ hours a month. Most programs are held between 9-3pm on weekdays. Dinosaur Ridge is a non-profit outdoor museum and National Natural Landmark with over 250 dinosaur footprints and dozens of dinosaur bones still in place from the Mesozoic, the Age of the Dinosaurs. Dinosaur Ridge outdoor education programs are led by volunteers like you! Do you speak Spanish? Do you enjoy children and learning or teaching about dinosaurs? We are looking for bilingual volunteers to help inspire students to be scientists as they observe, wonder, and learn about the lives and deaths of our backyard dinosaurs and the unique fossils, and geology found at this National Natural Landmark. In-depth training is provided so you do not need to have a background in geology or paleontology. We hope you'll consider joining our fun team of educators as we work to expand our Spanish language offerings to reach a wider audience. School tours and other scheduled outdoor education programs are conducted Sept-June on weekdays between 9am-3pm. During the summer, programs are conducted for camps and adult groups. Weekend walking tours are offered throughout the year. Volunteer as as often as you would like, with a min. commitment of 8 hrs/month for at least 6 months after completing training. Dinosaur Ridge is a popular destination for visitors from around the world! Help greet, orient and educate dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages at our Main Visitor Center and exhibit hall. Docents serve in our exhibit hall while ambassadors help welcome and orient visitors outdoors and answering general questions about Dinosaur Ridge. 4-hour shifts are available every day of the week and weekends. Volunteer one or more shifts a week on a regular schedule or as you are available. Training is provided with experienced docents to learn about the role, outdoor fossil sites and exhibits. Volunteers must complete a background check, review and sign our Volunteer Handbook and complete an online DEI training to serve in these roles.
