We are in need of a self-motivated and friendly Donation Center Acceptance Volunteer to assist in making houses homes! The Donation Center is our hub for all donations that come to Partners in Housing. This is where we make the decision to put items out for families to shop or pass them along to other organizations that are in need. Items donated from the community are given to Partner families (families in the Partners in Housing program) at no cost. Partners in Housing is a non-profit that provides transitional housing to families experiencing homelessness in Colorado Springs. Throughout their year in the program, families will have access to self-sufficiency classes, job readiness programs, budget counseling, child support, and more. After entering the Partners in Housing program, 90% of families find stable housing. Donation Center Acceptance Hours: Tuesdays between 9:00am and 12:00pm Shift time: Tuesdays, 8:45am-12:15pm Volunteers in this position will roll in donations that donors have placed in our "contact-less" black bins directly outside the Donation Center and unload them in our back area. This will require bending, twisting, and the ability to lift bags and boxes of donations out of a bin. Volunteers can sort during downtime, but the focus will be on bringing in donations. We have found that donors dropping off items frequently do not have the full picture of what Partners in Housing does in the Colorado Springs community. With this knowledge, we are hoping that volunteers in this role will speak to donors about the work Partners in Housing is carrying out and how to get connected. Come join us and make a difference in our client's lives and work with an awesome team! Main Responsibilities: Accepting Donations What items are in the Donation Center? Furniture Women's Clothing Children's Clothing Toddler and up Accessories Toys & Books Safety Procedures 6ft Social Distancing Face masks are required in shared spaces Partner families are required to wear masks Gloves are provided Disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer provided Restroom is on first floor to wash hands Open door for fresh air flow

This is where we make the decision whether to put items out for families to shop or to pass them along to other organizations that are in need. When Partner Families are shopping in our Donation Center, they often only have a few items on hand. When you volunteer in the Donation Center, you are giving mothers in the Colorado Springs community a chance to rebuild their home and work towards stability, self-reliance, and prosperity.
