Rampart Search and Rescue team member responds to lost person or child, recovery and evidence searches in Adams County and on the eastern plains of Colorado. We responded to: Tornados, Floods, Blizzards and other emergencies. Example: When I-70 is closed east of Denver our search and rescue team is called to look for stranded motorist and take them to the closest shelters. We're looking for those willing to help others in 'their' time of need. We provide monthly ongoing training and county uniforms (after 1 year of service). We work with several dispatch centers, along with city, county and state agencies. We have been involved in several high-profile rescues over the years, like the Boulder flood in 2013. We have our team meeting on the third Wed of the month at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office sub-station, 4201 East 72nd Ave in Commerce City at 7PM on the second floor. All are welcome to meet the team and ask questions. We also conduct classroom or field trainings each month. Our internal teams: 4x4, Dive, Cave rescue, Bike, Cadets (10 to 20 years of age), Drone and K9 (search dogs) Advancement, such as team lead, mission coordinator, board, etc. You do not need to have a 4x4. You can ride shotgun and help run radios, navigate, etc. We also own two ambulances we use as squads and you can help on their upkeep, drive them to the rescue location and the list goes on. We have a lot of needs and there is never a slow time of year. Rampart Search and Rescue has been the Adams County’s Primary search and rescue agency since 1999. 4x4 Team member needed - Team Description Rampart Search and Rescue 4x4 team specializing in: severe weather transportation, looking for stranded motorist when roads are closed, tornado spotting and vehicle recoveries on county off road trails. Also, our 4x4 team provides emergency support to local and state agencies through large area vehicle based searches, personal extraction, communications on public safety 2-way radios and other means. We never charge for our services and operate entirely on donations. All donations received, support our rescue missions as we have no paid positions, thus 100% goes to keeping Rampart Search and Rescue available 24/7. We quickly organize teams and manage recoveries coordination with local Sheriff Offices, Police Departments, US Forest Service, Highway Patrol, Fire Districts, CDOT and other Search and Rescue Teams. The 4x4 community has a passion for the beauty of Colorado and experiencing it firsthand. Our 4x4 team fills a much needed day to day roles and in the occasional severe weather events. Since October 1999, Rampart Search and Rescue has filed hundreds of rescue missions and thousands of volunteer hours each year. Last year 2023 we logged 107 rescues and 2,236 man hours. The Rampart Search and Rescue cadet program offers young men and women insight into the field of public safety and the opportunity to volunteer in their community. Rampart Search and Rescue cadets are between the ages of 10 and 20. Our cadets receive basic search and rescue training, volunteer for community events that Rampart Search and Rescue is involved in throughout the year. Our cadet program follows the Civil Air Patrol model, older the cadet, the more responsibility for the cadet. There are no dues to be a cadet with Rampart Search and Rescue. We promote integrity, excellence and respect, as well as teamwork and leadership . Our goal with the cadet program is to not only give students hard skills that will help them stay safe and rescue others, but also to ensure that participants understand how public safety agencies work, give respect to others and stay safe. Advancement to Cadet Caption, Sargent, team lead, mission coordinator and list goes on. Cadets can help in many areas of search and rescue, can ride shotgun when searching by vehicle, help run radios, navigate, etc., help in the command post, operate computers, keeping track on field search personal by radios when they are deployed. We have a lot of needs and there is never a slow time of year. Every year we need extra help during the county fair the first week of August. Do you need community hours for school? All volunteering with RASR can be used towards your graduation community volunteer hours! Meetings and Training : Team meetings on the third Wednesday of each month (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.). Most trainings are on the following Saturday (9 a.m. to 12 noon) of each month. Location for both: 4201 East 72nd Ave, Commence City (just off I-76 and 74th Ave) second floor. Cadets are expected to attend all meetings and trainings. However, we know that school and family events come first and if you cannot attend, you just need to let us know ahead of time (if possible). K9 Handler needed - Team Description Rampart Search and Rescue: Our long established canine scent detection we are looking for volunteers to join the K9 team. We search for missing persons only... no contraband or animals, just humans. The K9 is the responsibility of the handler. K9 training is on Sundays and the times varies depending on weather and other activity in the group. Training generally runs from 09:00 to 11:00 on Sundays, times very, also Sundays very from; every week or every other week. Our dogs are trained to determine the direction of the missing person and track them to where they are found. We will thoroughly train the handler as well. You will be working alongside of public safety professionals in Search and Rescue, Fire and in the Law Enforcement field. You will be on call 24/7. We know you are a volunteer and if you are out of town, working, with family, we get it. All we ask is let us know when you are not available for call outs. We never charge for our services and operate entirely on donations. The handler will be responsible for: - Their K9 training, submitting timely and accurate mission reports, other tasks relating to search and rescue. - Vet bills, food, search vest, and other related personal items for the K9 and handler. However; all K9 expenses are tax deductible. We are search and rescue team so our handler must be able to travel if requested out of county. The ideal candidate enjoys working with dogs and will be able to, on occasion, house a canine overnight in the field. We are looking for a friendly, outgoing personality, with a strong work ethic. ** If you do not have a dog, one of our K9 handlers can get you a pup to train and have as a family pet. All kinds of working K9s can be used, however some are not capable (it’s the dog, not only the bread that makes a good search dog). Please ask if that is the case. ** We also have a need for Cadaver K9s** This is a special type of training needed and we can also help with that. Please Note: Over the years folks have come to us to train their family K9s, we are not a training depot. You must be part of our search and rescue team for at least two years, if you are part of our K9 team and train with us. The Rampart Search and Rescue new Dive Team program offers men and women insight into the field of public safety and the opportunity to volunteer in their community. The team is aiming towards underwater evidence search and recovery. The team has helped with park rangers in identifying objects and items of interest.
