K9 Handler needed -

Team Description

Rampart Search and Rescue: Our long established canine scent detection we are looking for volunteers to join the K9 team. We search for missing persons only... no contraband or animals, just humans. The K9 is the responsibility of the handler. K9 training is on Sundays and the times varies depending on weather and other activity in the group. Training generally runs from 09:00 to 11:00 on Sundays, times very, also Sundays very from; every week or every other week. Our dogs are trained to determine the direction of the missing person and track them to where they are found. We will thoroughly train the handler as well. You will be working alongside of public safety professionals in Search and Rescue, Fire and in the Law Enforcement field. You will be on call 24/7. We know you are a volunteer and if you are out of town, working, with family, we get it. All we ask is let us know when you are not available for call outs. We never charge for our services and operate entirely on donations.

The handler will be responsible for:
- Their K9 training, submitting timely and accurate mission reports, other tasks relating to search and rescue.
- Vet bills, food, search vest, and other related personal items for the K9 and handler. However; all K9 expenses are tax deductible.

We are search and rescue team so our handler must be able to travel if requested out of county. The ideal candidate enjoys working with dogs and will be able to, on occasion, house a canine overnight in the field. We are looking for a friendly, outgoing personality, with a strong work ethic.

** If you do not have a dog, one of our K9 handlers can get you a pup to train and have as a family pet. All kinds of working K9s can be used, however some are not capable (it’s the dog, not only the bread that makes a good search dog). Please ask if that is the case.

** We also have a need for Cadaver K9s** This is a special type of training needed and we can also help with that.

Please Note: Over the years folks have come to us to train their family K9s, we are not a training depot. You must be part of our search and rescue team for at least two years, if you are part of our K9 team and train with us.
