Do Ask, Do Tell : The stories of LGBTQ Seniors in the Bay Area Dates: December and January Available Times: Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 PM - 4 PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM - 1 PM Saturdays 9 AM - 12 PM Location : 315 Turk Street, San Francisco, CA, 94102 We are looking for several volunteers for this project. Volunteers will meet one-on-one with older adults eager to share their stories. Curry Senior Center will provide a script that lays out the questions to ask and ways to help facilitate the conversation. The conversation is recorded and then transcribed by Curry team members to prepare the participants' reflections for a book. Program Description: Do Ask, Do Tell is a new initiative at Curry Senior Center. This program focuses on the Older Adults in the LGBTQ+ community and the invaluable stories they have to tell. These stories will be recorded, transcribed, and published in a book.

Curry Senior Center is Looking for Front Desk Receptionist Volunteers Do you have a friendly attitude and enjoy working with older adults? 3-hour (this can be flexible) weekly commitment for 3 months. This is a great way to complete community service hours! Available times are : Monday through Friday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Location: 520 Turk Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 What you will do: Greet visitors, manage a sign-in sheet, direct seniors to the correct programs, and sign for packages at Curry Senior Center’s new Tech and Wellness Hub+. Mainly sitting with intermittent standing. Expectations: All volunteers are expected to maintain participant confidentiality, and abide by the policies stated in the volunteer handbook. Skills: Comfortable working with older adults. Ability to interact with diverse populations. Patience and a positive demeanor! Bilingual (Cantonese, Spanish) is a plus. The Seniors here at Curry love to play Bingo! We are looking for individuals or groups of 2-4 people to play bingo and socialize with seniors. Bingo is from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Mondays and Saturdays. We kindly ask that volunteers bring along about a dozen prizes for the winners like toiletries, Walgreens gift cards, t-shirts, socks, and healthy snacks are some favorite prizes. We also just added lotería (a traditional Mexican board game of chance, similar to bingo) to our programming! The dates vary, but it is always 11 AM to 12 Noon. You can help volunteer for lotería by contacting Lalaine at lfavis@curryseniorcenter.org.

Curry Senior Center is looking for 3 to 4 volunteers to join Curry’s Wellness Team in providing fresh groceries for older adults in the Tenderloin. You’ll help arrange tables, display groceries like a farmers market, distribute groceries to older adults, and assist with cleanup. This opportunity is every Thursday from 9:30 AM to 1 PM.
