Curry Senior Center is Looking for Front Desk Receptionist Volunteers

Do you have a friendly attitude and enjoy working with older adults?

3-hour (this can be flexible) weekly commitment for 3 months. This is a great way to complete community service hours!

Available times are :
Monday through Friday
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Location: 520 Turk Street, San Francisco, CA 94102

What you will do: Greet visitors, manage a sign-in sheet, direct seniors to the correct programs, and sign for packages at Curry Senior Center’s new Tech and Wellness Hub+. Mainly sitting with intermittent standing.

Expectations: All volunteers are expected to maintain participant confidentiality, and abide by the policies stated in the volunteer handbook.

Skills: Comfortable working with older adults. Ability to interact with diverse populations. Patience and a positive demeanor! Bilingual (Cantonese, Spanish) is a plus.

2 Shifts

  • 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    4 hours shifts from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • 12:00 PM to 03:00 PM
    Shifts from 9 AM - 12 PM and 12 PM - 3 PM, Monday through Friday.

Description

Today, at Curry Senior Center we serve 2,600 seniors within a central city area stretching from Potrero Hill to lower Nob Hill and from the San Francisco Bay to Van Ness Avenue. We provide primary care at our medical clinic and through home visits to clients, case management for those who want it, substance abuse counseling, social and educational opportunities, and breakfast and lunch daily for seniors. In late 2003, we opened a new facility for our social programs and permanent housing for 13 formerly homeless seniors. Throughout our history, Dr. Curry's mission statement has been our driving force.
