Neighborhood Youth Association is a nonprofit organization that provides academic tutoring, leadership development and life skills to low-income and at-risk youth. We are based in Venice, and serve students after school from south and west LA. As part of our program, we offer tutoring in any academic subject that our students need. We are very volunteer driven. We are looking for tutors in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade math. Tutors generally work with individual or small groups of students (1-5) and do homework help or assist them with learning concepts. The time commitment is one hour a week for the school year. Our program runs in the evening after school (4-7 pm) and we can work with volunteers' schedules. We do not require prior tutoring experience, and will provide any materials. We are looking for people who are passionate about contributing to the community and social justice!

We are based in Venice, and serve students after school from south and west LA. NYA is dedicated to providing elective classes, as well as academic tutoring, to our students. Our program is after school, when most students participate in enrichment activities. Our students are low-income, and often cannot afford this. We are looking for volunteers who would like to provide instruction in coding. Time commitment would be one hour/week for the school year. We can work with volunteers' schedules. We do not require prior teaching experience, but are looking for people who are passionate about contributing to the community and social justice.

Neighborhood Youth Association is a nonprofit organization that provides academic tutoring, leadership development and life skills to low-income and at-risk youth. We are based in Venice, and serve students after school from south and west LA. As part of our high school leadership program, NYA provides elective classes. We would like to offer a chess class. Ideally, this class would teach students how to play chess, as well as help them with their critical thinking and organizational skills. This class would be 1-2 hours, once a week for the school year (after school). We are flexible on the time and can work with the volunteers' schedules. The class would be small (5-8 students). We do not require prior teaching experience, but are looking for people who are passionate about contributing to the community and social justice, and want to share their love of chess and teach basic skills to dedicated, at-risk teens.
